On the morning of November 15th (US time, which is the morning of November 16th in Vietnam), President Vo Van Thuong visited Stanford University in California, USA.

Here, he listened as representatives from the school's leadership introduced the history, current training programs, and research opportunities.

President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the rich history and achievements of Stanford University, which has trained many scientists, politicians , lawyers, and entrepreneurs for the United States as well as many countries around the world.

The Head of State was also pleased to see many young Vietnamese people in the audience who had studied here, grown up, and held important positions in Stanford University's operations.

"I hope that you will be effective and positive bridges for the relationship between Stanford University and Vietnamese institutions," he conveyed.

The President also reiterated that Vietnam and the United States announced the upgrading of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last September. Among the commitments, an important aspect is cooperation in the field of health and human healthcare.

In that context, the collaboration between Tam Anh Hospital and the Stanford University Institute for Microbiology and Disease Prevention to research disease prevention and control issues and create new drugs is "welcome," according to the President.

"All high-level agreements only become a reality when there is close cooperation from localities, units, and businesses," he added.

According to him, this collaboration is very significant and, most importantly, will bring about new achievements in human healthcare. The Vietnamese government will actively support and work with the units to resolve any difficulties or obstacles that may arise when the units cooperate in this field.

"I wish that this cooperation will soon yield results, deepen and realize the important commitments between the leaders of Vietnam and the United States, and make a positive contribution to the cause of protecting, caring for, and improving the health of the people," the President shared.

Immediately after his speech, President Vo Van Thuong attended the ceremony marking the cooperation between Tam Anh Hospital and the Institute for Microbiology and Disease Prevention at Stanford University.

President Vo Van Thuong is on a working visit to the United States from November 14 to 17 to attend the APEC 2023 High-Level Week, combined with bilateral activities in the US. According to the schedule, today, November 16 (Vietnam time), the President will have a series of meetings with American and APEC scholars and businesses. A highlight of these is his speech at the APEC Business Summit, an event bringing together leading business leaders from the region and the world.
