The above statement was quoted by AFP as saying by a number of political party leaders who attended a 2.5-hour meeting with the French President on March 7.

According to AFP , Mr. Macron supports a "no-holds-barred" approach to countering Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Green Party leader Marine Tondelier, it was “extremely worrying” to see the French President say at the meeting: “We must also show that we have no limits.”

The president's thinking is "boundless and without red lines," said Jordan Bardella, chairman of the far-right National Rally (RN) party.

Last week, Mr. Macron stunned the West when he announced that he did not rule out sending Western ground troops to Ukraine, leading a series of EU and NATO allies to speak out to confirm that they would not send troops.

Earlier this week, Mr Macron urged Ukraine's allies not to be "cowards" in supporting the Eastern European country against Russia, prompting a strong protest from Germany.

Meanwhile, on the same day, writing in Le Monde , Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said: “We have never asked… foreign troops to fight alongside us… We have always had faith in our fighters.”

However, he stressed, Ukraine needs more artillery shells and long-range missiles, especially Patriot air defense systems.

Responding to the French President's statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "Mr. Macron believes in the strategic defeat of Russia and he continues to increase the level of Paris' direct involvement in the conflict."

According to the Russian official, Paris has made “very contradictory” statements about whether it is ready to send troops to Ukraine when the French Foreign Ministry rejected the proposal.
