From May 11 to 17, the Departmentsof Education and Training (DOET) and the registration units nationwide will review, check, edit and complete the registration information for the 2024 high school graduation exam of candidates. With 1,067,391 registered candidates, the Ministry of Education and Training has many notes in implementing this year's high school graduation exam.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's high school graduation exam still aims to evaluate students' learning outcomes according to the requirements of the 2006 General Education Program; use exam results to consider recognizing high school graduation and serve as one of the bases for evaluating the quality of teaching and learning of general education institutions and the direction of education management agencies; provide reliable data for universities and vocational education institutions to use in enrollment in the spirit of autonomy.
To ensure that the exam registration process is carried out seriously and effectively, providing accurate data information to serve the exam organization and ensuring the rights of candidates, the Ministry of Education and Training has organized training and dissemination of exam regulations and training on exam organization techniques for the Departments of Education and Training.
Before candidates officially register, the Ministry of Education and Training also carefully prepares the registration software and opens a portal to allow online registration for the high school graduation exam. The registration units also deploy many solutions to meet the registration needs of candidates. Therefore, during the online registration period from May 2-10, the Ministry of Education and Training's exam management system operates stably, ensuring that candidates register for the exam smoothly and successfully. At the end of the registration period, 1,067,391 candidates registered for the exam on the Ministry of Education and Training's registration system; of which, 45,344 were independent candidates.
During the exam registration process, most registration locations and high schools send teachers to guide and prepare computer equipment for candidates to register and achieve results.
Teacher Le Trung Kien, Principal of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Long Bien, Hanoi ) said that during the exam registration days, the school's power source, computers, and internet connection were stable and there were always three staff members and teachers on duty to support students. Therefore, although there were still students who did not prepare documents to prove their subjects and priority areas well, and their photos did not comply with regulations, by the deadline, 697 12th grade students of the school had completed their exam registration; ensuring that their choice of subjects and exam combinations were in line with their strengths and the needs of university and college admissions. From May 11, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School shifted its focus to the "sprint" exam review phase for 12th grade students. The school required teachers of each subject to guide, develop review outlines, systematize knowledge, and review the quality of each student to differentiate according to level. The exam objectives ensure four levels: recognition, understanding, application, and high application.
Teacher Nguyen Quoc Nam, Principal of Tien Phong High School (Me Linh, Hanoi) shared that in the process of implementing the registration for the high school graduation exam for 12th graders, the school established a Database Committee including school leaders, office staff, IT teachers, and homeroom teachers to support students. Therefore, the registration process for 445 12th graders was quite smooth.
Student Nguyen The Truong, class 12D, Tien Phong High School said that during the registration process, there were some errors such as missing information and confusing subjects, but thanks to the support of teachers, he was able to successfully register. Immediately after registering for the exam, he and his friends were focused on reviewing graduation exam subjects according to the sample exam structure and combined with review activities for university entrance exams. "I chose History, Geography, and Civic Education to use for university entrance exams," Truong said.
Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management of the Ministry of Education and Training, said that the Ministry of Education and Training has issued complete documents, instructions and organized training sessions for the exam. The National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam and the exam steering committees of provinces and cities have also been established to implement the steps of the exam. After candidates nationwide complete their registration for the exam, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize training and organize inspections and checks of the exam implementation in localities. The Ministry of Education and Training noted that the Departments of Education and Training and high schools need to focus on reviewing and printing the database for candidates to compare. In particular, units need to pay attention to verifying the household registration that has been implemented according to the digital transformation project, not using paper household registration. Schools and candidates must compare and print the data for candidates to sign to verify the final results. For candidates, it is necessary to focus on implementing the instructions of the high school where they study to check the exam database; review relevant information to serve the enrollment work. Director Huynh Van Chuong also reminded candidates to focus on systematizing the knowledge they have learned because there is only one and a half months left until the exam day. However, they should not be too stressed or worried.
According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, this year is the final year of the high school graduation exam according to the 2006 general education program, but the goals and meanings of the exam have not changed, any mistakes can greatly affect the exam. In order for the high school graduation exam to be safe, serious, and achieve the best results according to the set goals, the exam direction work at all levels needs to be thorough and comprehensive. In 2024, the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam will continue to thoroughly implement the spirit of "four rights, three no's" in the exam. These are: Correct regulations and exam instructions, correct and sufficient procedures, correct positions and assigned responsibilities, and the right time to promptly handle unusual situations and incidents; Do not be negligent, do not put too much pressure, do not arbitrarily handle unusual situations and incidents in order to conduct the 2024 high school graduation exam safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.
