To commemorate the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2026), the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Truong Canh Tuyen, instructed relevant departments and agencies to urgently prepare the necessary procedures for the commencement of two wind power projects on May 19th.
Specifically, the Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant project (Vinh Chau ward), invested by Soc Trang 1 Energy Investment Joint Stock Company, is assessed to be eligible for commencement on May 19th.
The project has a designed capacity of 350MW with 56 turbines, each with a capacity of 6.25MW, and a total investment of approximately VND 14,500 billion, belonging to project group A.
Regarding this project, the leaders of the Can Tho City Department of Construction said that the project has basically completed all approval procedures. Currently, the investor is finalizing the remaining procedures such as: allocation of the sea area and land allocation, and land lease for the administration building and transformer station.
Simultaneously, the People's Committee of Can Tho City is urgently completing the necessary procedures to commence the construction project of a new 220kV substation for the Phu Cuong 1A and 1B Wind Power Plant complex, along with a 220kV transmission line connecting to the Vinh Chau 220kV substation.
The project is part of the Phu Cuong 1A and 1B Wind Power Plant Cluster, implemented in Lai Hoa commune and Vinh Phuoc and Vinh Chau wards, Khanh Hoa province . The project has an installed capacity of 200MW and a total estimated investment of approximately 9,140 billion VND.
The project involves the construction of 25 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8MW, located in the nearshore waters of Lai Hoa commune. The power collection and transmission system includes an underwater cable connecting the offshore turbines to the shore, linking to an onshore substation before being connected to the national power grid via a 220kV line. Calculations indicate the project's commercial electricity output is estimated at approximately 526.36 million kWh per year.
Currently, the Department of Construction of Can Tho City is proposing that the City People's Committee continue to direct relevant departments, agencies, and localities to support investors in overcoming difficulties and accelerating the completion of procedures so that the two projects can be started as planned.
