Join hands to promote Hoi An heritage

Four communes, one heritage

According to the signed coordination regulations, the four localities of Hoi An, Hoi An Dong, Hoi An Tay and Tan Hiep agreed to coordinate regularly and effectively, covering many areas such as Party building, socio -economic development, national defense and security, environmental protection, education, health care, tourism, etc.

The focus is on preserving and promoting the values of Hoi An World Cultural Heritage, Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An Biosphere Reserve and traditional craft villages in the area.

For approved projects, transitional projects, and backlog projects related to localities, localities agree to consult the city and relevant departments, branches, and sectors on implementing zoning plans according to the previously approved Hoi An City Master Plan.

At the same time, participate in giving comments on the Architectural Management Regulations to replace Decision No. 777/QD-UBND issued by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (old) on March 15, 2011 on the Urban Planning and Architecture Management Regulations of Hoi An city.

In addition, coordinate the implementation of inter-local projects and works: Hoi An people's cemetery, landfill in Hoi An Tay ward, construction of new Hoi An Hospital and several other key projects.

Notably, there are 2 new projects proposed by the relevant parties in the joint plan for coordination in the remaining time of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, including: investment research, collection, exhibition at Hoi An Traditional Room (Hoi An Cultural Park) and implementation of green tourism project, smart tourism, digital copy of Hoi An - Cu Lao Cham.

The four communes and wards will also cooperate to organize events and festivals locally as well as in some countries with which they have previously signed cooperation and exchange agreements.

Hoi An Ward will take on the role of general coordinator for the period 2025 - the first quarter of 2026, then transfer to Hoi An Dong Ward to preside over the next phase plan.

Building world heritage brands

In the development flow of Hoi An urban area, the entities of street and village blend harmoniously with the structure of "village in the street - street in the village".

In addition, the ecosystem of this area is also closely connected from the shore to the island with the typical value of the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve recognized by UNESCO in 2009.

Therefore, in the upcoming development process, especially with inter-regional issues, communes and wards need to consult closely to minimize conflicts of interest between localities.

According to Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, the fact that four localities sat together, discussed and agreed to build a common coordination regulation is a practical, creative and strategic step.

This contributes to effectively implementing major policies of the City Party Committee, especially the policy of twinning between localities.

Besides, it also aims to build a unified development space, a comprehensive entity in culture, identity and brand "Hoi An - World Cultural Heritage destination".

Especially inter-regional projects such as: Planning, infrastructure investment, green tourism, digital transformation, night-time economic development, building a unified cultural - ecological space of Hoi An - Cu Lao Cham”, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi.
