On November 10, 2023, the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2023 took place at the headquarters of Vietnam Airlines Corporation.
This is an event to implement the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021-2030 period; The Government's Gender Equality Communication Program to 2030, chaired by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), in coordination with the United Nations in Vietnam and Vietnam Airlines .
At the launching ceremony, more than 500 delegates representing ministries, sectors, government agencies, businesses, the United Nations, embassies, non-governmental organizations, and research institutions joined hands to commit to promoting gender equality and ending gender-based violence.
There can be no gender equality without men's participation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung affirmed Vietnam's commitments to ensuring gender equality in general, enhancing the power and position of women in particular, and emphasizing the role of communication work on gender equality.
To address gender inequality in Vietnam, in addition to laws, policies, and programs to ensure social security, communication work is identified as the most important task and solution to raise awareness, change behavior, contribute to eliminating prejudice, and move towards achieving real gender equality.
Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung spoke at the ceremony.
The Minister requested and hoped that ministries, branches, agencies, Party committees at all levels, authorities, organizations, unions, media agencies and each of us would commit, participate and take practical actions towards gender equality work.
“A peaceful world, without violence, disease, poverty, a democratic, fair, civilized society and full of love is the legitimate wish of every human being.
This dream can only be realized if we all work together with understanding, responsibility and love. There will be no gender equality without men's participation in household chores and without ending violence against women and girls.
Women need to enhance their autonomy and assertiveness to participate more actively in all areas of socio-economic life.
Along with that, men also need to build confidence that they can take on and perform well the role of family care, which is part of the solution to end violence against women," Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung emphasized.
Speak up when you see violence
