Excellent comeback to defeat Philippines, U23 Vietnam wins the right to enter the final
Despite facing difficulties when U23 Philippines took the lead in the first half, the "Golden Star Warriors" showed their mettle with a dramatic comeback, thereby winning the final match with a score of 2-1 at Bung Karno Stadium (Indonesia) on the evening of July 25.

With this victory, U23 Vietnam has set an unprecedented record by reaching the final of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament for the third consecutive time. Not only that, coach Kim Sang Sik's team also extended their unbeaten streak to 12 matches (the longest in the history of this tournament) from 2019 to present.
Since the victory over U23 Cambodia in the third-place match in 2019, the "Golden Star Warriors" have not tasted defeat once.
In this year’s tournament, coach Kim Sang Sik’s team is showing impressive form. With 3 wins, 7 goals scored and only 2 conceded, U23 Vietnam has proven its stability and bravery in its playing style.
Although the scoring performance is not too explosive, these numbers show the solidity in the team's tactical operation. Notably, the history of confrontation is also completely on the side of U23 Vietnam when we have won 5 and lost only once in the last 6 encounters with the Indonesian opponent.
This will be a great spiritual support for U23 Vietnam to confidently enter the decisive match on July 29.
Ahead of the final, coach Kim Sang Sik expressed caution but was still confident about Vietnam U23's chances. "I have never faced the current Indonesian coach, but I can see that their team has improved a lot under Mr. Shin Tae Yong," the 48-year-old strategist shared.

However, the Korean coach affirmed that the whole team is ready for any challenge: "No matter who we face, we will prepare very carefully. The most important thing right now is confidence and physical strength. If we do well in these two factors, I believe U23 Vietnam will win."
The final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia will take place at 8:00 p.m. on July 29 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Indonesia).
