Join hands to eliminate school violence

Recently, reporters recorded a case of school violence that occurred at a secondary school in Ham Thuan Nam District (Binh Thuan).

Among them, a 7th grade student of this school, just because he bought a helmet to compensate his friend that was the wrong color of the old helmet he lost, was beaten by his friend and many other friends, filmed, and the clip quickly spread on social networks.

Just from a very simple cause, a group of students deliberately attacked a classmate, which is a very bad behavior among young people, and needs to be prevented. It is worth mentioning that the incident happened on November 7, but it was not until November 11 that the school found out. That shows that the attention of the school and the homeroom teacher is not enough, because the images and clips have flooded the personal accounts of the students in the school.

Immediately after receiving the writer's direct request, a leader of the Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Office consulted and sent a document to the Department of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam District to request verification; at the same time, requesting clarification of individual and collective responsibilities related to the student's school violence. The Director of the Binh Thuan Department of Education and Training also sent an official dispatch requesting to organize a visit and psychological stabilization for the beaten student so that he or she can return to school as soon as possible, as well as learn from experience and strengthen coordination between the school, family and society to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

In a broader sense, despite repeated warnings from the media, school violence still recurs. In part, it can be seen that the propaganda and coordination between schools, families, and society are still not strong enough. Therefore, homeroom teachers - those closest to students - need to be more proactive in understanding their psychology and behavior. Resolute action is needed to help students understand that violence is not only wrong, but also harmful to themselves, their families, and theeducational environment.

Preventing school violence is not only the responsibility of the education sector, but also the common task of the whole society. Only when everyone participates can we build a safe and healthy school environment.
