On September 20, Elsevier Publishing House and a research group from Stanford University (USA) announced the 7th edition of the database on the world's most influential scientists in 2025 based on citation data from Scopus up to the end of 2024.
According to the announcement, Vietnam has 205 scientists in the rankings, including 9 in the top 10,000 most influential scientists in the world and about 70 in the top 100,000 most influential scientists. With the result that 79 Vietnamese scientists are ranked in the top 10,000 and 100,000 famous scientists in the world, it shows that the positive signals of the Vietnamese research community have affirmed that more and more research by Vietnamese scientists is widely cited internationally.
Among them is Associate Professor-PhD Pham Thai Binh, lecturer at the University of Transport Technology - who has been ranked in the top 10,000 most influential scientists in the world for 3 consecutive years. Associate Professor-PhD Pham Thai Binh is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the University's Journal of Transport Science and Technology (JSTT), which is one of 15 journals in Vietnam to be included in the Scopus index after only 3 years of establishment.
In addition, the list of the 100,000 most influential scientists in the world in 2025 also includes Associate Professor - Dr. Tran Van Quan, Deputy Director of the Institute of Training and International Cooperation, University of Transport Technology. Notably, according to the ranking of the field of Information and Communication Technology, Associate Professor - Dr. Tran Van Quan is ranked in the top 2 among the most influential Vietnamese scientists in the world (category 2024).
This is the second consecutive year that the University of Transport Technology has had two scientists ranked among the most influential scientists globally, putting the University of Transport Technology in the top 10 research and educational institutions in Vietnam with the number of scientists recorded in the “Throughout Career” database. This not only affirms the prestige, position and scientific research capacity of individual scientists but also vividly demonstrates the outstanding contributions of the University of Transport Technology on the international science map.
