Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi, 38 years old, has scored two goals in five consecutive matches, bringing his total to 16 this season. This achievement has been crucial in helping Inter Miami secure four wins and one draw in their recent run of games.

Notably, since his time at Barcelona in 2012, Messi has never scored a brace or more than one goal in five consecutive matches, making this year's MLS achievement incredibly impressive.
However, against a disciplined and solid FC Cincinnati, Messi and his teammates were almost powerless. Inter Miami only managed two shots on target throughout the entire match – a surprisingly low number considering their recent devastating goal-scoring form.
Cincinnati opened the scoring in the 16th minute through young American midfielder Gerardo Valenzuela (20 years old). After the break, Brazilian striker Evander exploded, scoring two goals in quick succession in the 50th and 70th minutes to seal a 3-0 victory for the home team.
This defeat leaves Inter Miami in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 11 wins and 5 draws, earning 38 points – eight points behind league leaders Philadelphia. Philadelphia just defeated Montreal to maintain their number one position, just one point ahead of Cincinnati.
Although Inter Miami still has three games in hand against both Philadelphia and Cincinnati, Messi's team will have to win all three remaining matches if they want to overtake their two rivals and claim the top spot in the standings.
The remaining fixtures will be a major challenge for Messi and his teammates if they truly want to turn their ambition of winning the MLS title this season into reality.
