As is customary, every Lunar New Year, the "Border Guard Spring - Warming the Hearts of the People - Compassionate Tet" program is organized to care for the people in border and island areas during the Tet holiday; demonstrating the nation's tradition of mutual support and compassion; and further strengthening the close bond between the military and the people in border regions, uniting and working together to effectively fulfill the task of protecting the sovereignty of the homeland's borders. This is also an activity to express gratitude to the people in border areas who, together with border guard officers and soldiers, local Party committees, and authorities, have successfully carried out the task of managing and protecting territorial sovereignty, maintaining political security, and social order in border areas over the past time.

The "Spring at the Border - Warming the Hearts of the Local People - Compassionate Tet" program in 2024 was organized with many practical and meaningful activities such as: visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiary families, families facing particularly difficult circumstances, and children "adopted by border guard posts"; donating solidarity houses; a compassionate Tet market with free stalls and gifts to share love; organizing free medical examinations and dispensing medicine; providing free haircuts for the people; giving away banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes); organizing cultural and sports exchange activities...

A new feature of this year's program is the invitation of officials and people from the villages of Ra, Plu, Tan Du, etc., from Laos to celebrate Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) with the people of Ba Tang commune. The program organizers also presented many meaningful gifts to the people of Laos, aiming to spread love and introduce the beauty of the traditional Tet holiday of the Vietnamese people.

Speaking at the program, on behalf of the provincial leadership, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Ho Dai Nam, acknowledged and highly appreciated the Provincial Border Guard Command for presiding over and coordinating with the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Provincial Women's Union, the Provincial Farmers' Association, the Provincial Red Cross Society, Viettel Quang Tri, VNPT Quang Tri, the Military Bank (MB) Quang Tri, and other organizations and individuals to organize a meaningful program that promotes the national tradition of "mutual support" and "helping those in need," contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of people in border areas; helping the people and students in border areas celebrate a joyful, warm, and happy Tet holiday.

We propose that the Provincial Border Guard Command continue to take the lead and coordinate with relevant units and benefactors to organize the program on a larger scale in the future, especially with more practical and meaningful activities to provide people with more favorable conditions to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) with complete joy and happiness in the border region.

The Provincial Border Guard Command and border guard posts are requested to focus on developing economic models, providing scientific and technical support, seedlings, and livestock to people in border areas to develop their economy and improve their living standards; to strengthen propaganda on drug prevention and control, and social evils... to raise people's awareness, comply with the law, and maintain security and order in border areas; Huong Hoa district and Ba Tang commune should actively support and encourage people to abandon the mentality of waiting and relying on support from all levels and sectors, and make greater efforts in economic development and poverty reduction to build a better life.

On this occasion, the program organizers, along with sponsoring partners, presented 23 solidarity houses and 100 gift packages to particularly disadvantaged families in Ba Tang commune.
