On the morning of January 1st, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Nguyen Thanh Binh, along with leaders from the Department of Tourism and Vietnam Airlines in Hue City, welcomed passengers on the first flight of the new year 2025.
At 9:15 AM on January 1st, Vietnam Airlines flight VN6317, carrying over 100 passengers, departed from Hanoi and landed at Phu Bai International Airport in Hue City.
This also marks the day Hue officially became Vietnam's sixth centrally-governed city.

Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, along with leaders from the Department of Tourism, the Tourism Association, Phu Bai International Airport, the Central Vietnam Aviation Authority, Vietnam Airlines in Hue, and Pacific Airlines, presented flowers and commemorative gifts to wish a Happy New Year to the passengers, the captain, and the chief flight attendant of flight VN6317.
In particular, the four luckiest passengers on the first flight to Hue City on New Year's Day were given four round-trip domestic air tickets from Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines, along with souvenirs from the Hue City Department of Tourism.
According to the leaders of the Hue City Department of Tourism, the program to welcome the first flight and tourists to Hue City in 2025 is one of the opening activities to respond to the Hue Festival 2025, in line with the orientation of a four-season festival.
This also serves as the kick-off program for a series of tourism events and activities in Hue City in 2025, celebrating Hue's status as a centrally-governed city and the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 with the theme "Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities".

In 2024, Hue's tourism industry welcomed nearly 3.9 million visitors, an increase of 21.8% compared to 2023; of which nearly 1.45 million were international visitors, an increase of 16.6% compared to 2023.
The main source of international tourists comes from ASEAN countries, Northeast Asia, Western Europe, North America, and Australia. Tourism revenue in 2024 is expected to reach approximately VND 7,900 billion, an increase of 19.6% compared to 2023.
In addition, Hue City has received a series of awards and titles from several international tourism organizations, magazines, and information channels, contributing to the communication and promotion of Hue's tourism destinations and products in the region and globally, attracting traditional and potential international tourist markets.
With a series of activities and events organized during the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025, Hue expects to attract approximately 4.8-5 million tourists, of which international tourists will account for about 38-40% of the total; total tourism revenue is expected to reach approximately 10,800 - 11,200 billion VND.
