Currently, the province has 140 fixed inter-provincial passenger transport routes connecting to 18 provinces and cities; more than 70 transport units from within and outside the province participate in operation, along with thousands of vehicles operating in various forms of passenger transport, cargo transport, taxis, buses, and contract vehicles. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, Head of the Transport Management, Vehicle and Driver Department of the Department of Construction, said: The Department has directed the acceleration of data digitization in transport management; standardizing the database on vehicles, transport businesses, transport routes, bus stations, and drivers on the road transport management system. At the same time, it has implemented information technology applications in bus station operation, electronic document exchange, and vehicle monitoring. To date, 100% of transport vehicles under management have installed vehicle tracking devices, and many vehicles have installed cameras as required. The Department also encourages businesses to apply e-ticketing, online ride-hailing, and cashless payment methods, contributing to improved management efficiency, administrative procedure reform, and the creation of a modern, transparent, and safe transportation environment.

In response to the demands for innovation and the development trends of the digital age, many transportation businesses in the province have proactively applied information technology to their management and business operations. Mr. Hoang Van Thai, Deputy Director of Son La Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company, shared: "The company has invested in a comprehensive set of software for managing transportation orders, vehicle operation, route monitoring, and bus station management, helping to shorten processing time, reduce paperwork, and enhance passenger safety. In addition, the company has implemented an app for online ticket booking and payment, allowing customers to proactively choose their trips, seats, and make cashless payments quickly. The company has also synchronized customer service channels via Fanpage and Zalo to support ticket booking, receive feedback, and improve service quality. The application of technology has helped the business optimize costs, improve operational efficiency, and build a civilized and modern transportation environment."

Previously, booking bus tickets was mainly done by calling the bus company or going to the bus station to buy tickets. Now, people can book tickets using their smartphones from anywhere. Ms. Nguyen Thuy Linh, from Group 3, To Hieu Ward, shared: "Before, to book a bus or buy a ticket, I had to call the bus company, and sometimes even go to the bus station. Now, with just a smartphone and a few taps, I can choose the bus, the seat, the travel time, and the ticket price is publicly displayed. I feel very convenient and reassured."

The ride-hailing sector is also experiencing strong growth. Mr. Duong Tat Thang, Director of Tay Bac Green Transportation and Tourism Trading Company Limited, said: The company currently has nearly 600 vehicles operating in the province. The company has installed dashcams on all vehicles and installed the Green SM and Tay Bac Green apps to support work management on mobile phones. When a customer requests a ride, the system will automatically find a suitable vehicle based on distance and send the request to the driver. At the same time, the company has also partnered with commercial banks to implement online booking and cashless payment for services, to serve customers conveniently, openly, and transparently.

Digital transformation is gradually creating positive changes in the passenger transport sector in the province, contributing to building an increasingly safe, civilized, and modern transportation system that meets the needs of socio-economic development and better serves the travel needs of the people.
