At the forum "Green Transformation and Recycling Day 2025" held on July 31 in Ho Chi Minh City, experts affirmed that green transformation is not only a trend of the times but also a vital requirement to improve national competitiveness and meet international standards.

The event was attended by comrade Huynh Thanh Dat - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, and comrade Nguyen Van Duoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
In his opening speech, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that the city is facing a new context, requiring a redefinition of the meaning of "development". He affirmed that green transformation is not simply about protecting the environment, but also a key strategy to ensure economic security, attract investment, and enhance the city's position as an economic locomotive.
He encouraged businesses to view compliance with green standards not as a barrier, but as an opportunity to innovate, conquer the market and enhance their brands. At the same time, he affirmed that the city government is committed to standing side by side and supporting businesses on this journey.

Also at the forum, Mr. Pham Binh An - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, pointed out major challenges for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises that are weak in resources and have difficulties in land. He emphasized the need to combine "green and digital" for rapid and effective transformation. He said that businesses cannot go it alone but need to cooperate, participate in chains and associations to develop together.
To support businesses on this journey, the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises has announced a support package "Activating Green Transformation" worth VND120 million for 9 typical small and medium-sized enterprises, including training and certification costs in the first year.

In addition, the association also signed agreements with relevant parties to promote links between academia and businesses, and develop circular recycling activities. Mr. Nguyen Gia Huy Chuong - CEO of the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PRO Vietnam), emphasized the importance of cooperation, sharing of resources, data and experience among parties.
Ms. Vu Kim Hanh - President of the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises, said that the association has spent nearly 1.5 billion VND to support enterprises to be trained and coached according to green standards, helping them confidently participate in exports. The association will also organize meetings, share experiences and promote the successes of enterprises to encourage consumers to pay more attention to green products.
The forum has helped businesses have the opportunity to make green transformation to continue to develop in the future.
In the context of climate change and pressure from international standards on net zero emissions, this forum acts as an important bridge between policy, science and business, strongly spreading the spirit of green living and responsible consumption in the community.
