Amazon MGM recently recorded the box office success of “Project Hail Mary,” which grossed approximately $600 million worldwide. This is also an encouragement for projects adapted from the literary works of author Colleen Hoover. Previously, “It Ends With Us” (2024), “Regretting You” (2025), and “Reminders of Him” all received strong audience interest.
“Verity” is a literary phenomenon that consistently appeared on The New York Times bestseller list for months at a time and sold over 1 million copies in 2023 alone.
The film centers around Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer who unexpectedly receives what seems like a life-changing opportunity. Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett) hires her to finish the remaining books in his wife “Verity” Crawford’s (played by Anne Hathaway) series of crime novels, who is no longer able to write after a mysterious accident. Enticed by the lucrative offer, Lowen accepts the deal and moves into the Crawford mansion.
Here, she inadvertently discovers an unpublished autobiographical manuscript containing chilling confessions about the landlord's family's past. From there, Lowen becomes increasingly drawn into a tense and haunting relationship with Jeremy and his young son, Crew, forcing her to confront an increasingly terrifying question: what "Verity" wrote is merely a sensational novel, a cold confession, or a sign of psychosis?

The trailer also made a strong impression: “There is no light on the path we are taking” contributed to the tense atmosphere and piqued the audience's curiosity about the secrets hidden behind this meticulously crafted drama.
Against that dark and unpredictable backdrop, the presence of talented actors such as Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett further heightens expectations for the haunting love triangle in Colleen Hoover's world .
The film "Verity" is scheduled to premiere in theaters nationwide on October 2nd, distributed by Galaxy Studio.
