A narrow 1-0 victory in Round 24 of the V-League 2025-2026, held on May 24th at Go Dau Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), helped Song Lam Nghe An Club achieve their goal of avoiding relegation and pushed the home team, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City, into a "cornerstone" situation, facing the risk of relegation.

From being a contender for the domestic championship, the team from Binh Duong has utterly disappointed fans with a series of poor performances. Despite constantly changing coaches, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC has been unable to rediscover its former flamboyant attacking football style, struggling in the V-League relegation battle. Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC is currently on an 8-match winless streak, including 5 defeats.

Despite suffering their 13th defeat in the V-League this season, new head coach Hua Hien Vinh still maintains his belief that his team can squeeze through the narrow gap and successfully avoid relegation. However, sitting in 12th place and only one point ahead of the bottom two teams, Becamex TP HCM faces a significant risk of direct relegation or having to play a relegation play-off at the end of the season.

Coach Hua Hien Vinh's team will face two tough challenges in the near future. In round 25, the team from Go Dau Stadium will have to play away at Hanoi Police FC. Although they have already become the new V-League champions, Coach Polking's strong squad still aims to become the champion with the highest total points in the history of the tournament. Hanoi Police FC needs 3 more points to equal the record set by Hanoi FC (64 points) in 2018.

Furthermore, on the day the police team grandly celebrates their V-League championship victory with their home crowd, they will deliver a spectacular match with a convincing win at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi). Therefore, the likelihood of Becamex Ho Chi Minh City leaving empty-handed in Round 25 on May 31st is very high.

If this scenario unfolds, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City will have to fend for themselves when hosting Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) in the final round of the season. These two once-famous teams, now facing similar circumstances in this season's V-League, will create a fascinating "relegation battle" at Go Dau Stadium on June 7th.

After 24 rounds, HAGL is currently ranked 11th in the standings with 23 points. The team from Pleiku is 2 points ahead of Becamex Ho Chi Minh City and is also predicted to face many difficulties in round 25, when they host Hanoi FC at Pleiku Stadium. If they slip up against the capital city team, HAGL will have to compete for points in a direct confrontation with Becamex Ho Chi Minh City to keep their hopes of participating in the V-League next season alive.
