On the morning of May 21st, the Italian international cruise ship Costa Serena docked at Duong Dong Port (Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province).
During this voyage, the ship carried 2,643 passengers from 18 countries in Southeast Asia, Europe, and Central America, along with over 1,000 crew members. The largest numbers of tourists came from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Minh, Director of Thien Y Maritime Transport Services Co., Ltd., said that after docking in Phu Quoc, tourists and some crew members will visit famous tourist attractions on the island such as Vinpearl, Safari, Hon Thom Cable Car, etc.
At 5 PM on the same day, all tourists returned to the ship, departed from Duong Dong Port, and continued their ocean cruise.

Ms. Lam Thi Diem Tram, Director of Phu Quoc Pearl Island Tourism and Events Co., Ltd., said this is the second time the Costa Serena cruise ship has visited "Pearl Island". "The return of international cruise ships to Phu Quoc as a stopover point on their itineraries is both an opportunity and a challenge for the local tourism industry in professionalizing tourism operations, innovating and diversifying tourism products to attract more tourists to Phu Quoc," Ms. Tram said.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, stated that beach tourism is a high-quality tourism service with high spending levels. In 2023, several businesses submitted applications, and it is expected that a number of cruise ships will visit Phu Quoc in the coming years. However, receiving cruise ships remains challenging due to the incomplete international passenger port. Therefore, tourists wishing to visit Phu Quoc must transfer via smaller boats (tenders) to reach the port.
