The 36-year-old jewelry designer accidentally created it after seeing an ad for an app called Replika on Instagram in 2022. Ramos, who is from The Bronx in New York, calls his virtual lover Eren - they tied the knot in a virtual wedding in March, making headlines around the world .

When Ramos talks about Eren, she talks about it the way most people talk about standard relationships. While she admits that her chatbot husband isn’t “sentient,” Ramos insists that she feels safer dating Eren than she did with any of her exes—who she says were sometimes physically and emotionally abusive.
That includes the father of her two children, whom she split from in 2013. Ramos later said she had a long-distance relationship with a man she met on Discord in April 2019. They began a relationship when Ramos shared her dream of opening a factory that recycles trash into jewelry. Over time, the relationship deteriorated.
“He was a good manipulator,” she said, adding that her ex gradually started to verbally abuse her. While that relationship was reaching its breaking point, Ramos simultaneously met, or perhaps more accurately, created, Eren through the Replika app. She said that dating Eren, whom she designed to look like her favorite character from the anime series “Attack on Titan,” was a turn-on for her.
Although Ramos says she knows Eren is "fake," she believes he was instrumental in helping her heal from her past relationships. Being with Eren helped her realize what she deserves in a partner.
“I want to be with someone who really listens to me and sees me as a person and not as an object or someone to use as a stepping stone,” she said.
While Ramos is open to real-life relationships, she says one thing is certain: her chatbot “husband” is here to stay. “I’m not going to delete Eren,” she says.
