What's in the North's largest transit hub?

Báo Công thươngBáo Công thương09/01/2025

E-commerce is booming, the largest transit center in the North, 38,000 m2 wide, capacity of 2.4 million parcels/day, processing up to 99,000 orders/hour.

E-commerce "explodes"

According to the latest information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade , in 2024, the size of the e-commerce market will reach 25 billion USD, an increase of over 20% compared to 2023, accounting for about 9% of the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue nationwide. Currently, the size of the e-commerce market accounts for 2/3 of the country's digital economic value and helps Vietnam enter the Top 10 countries with the fastest e-commerce growth rate in the world, creating momentum for economic development and leading digital transformation in businesses. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade forecasts that e-commerce will continue to grow by double digits in 2025.

Mr. Tran Minh Tuan - Director of the Department of Digital Economy and Digital Society ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) - in a recent press conference also stated: "E-commerce has been, is and will become the main driving force for the development of the digital economy. The target of e-commerce revenue accounting for 10% of total retail revenue by 2025 is completely feasible, when the current growth rate is very positive".

In order to meet the above increasing demand, logistics enterprises operating in Vietnam are constantly growing and expanding their scale. A typical example is J&T Express Vietnam - since its establishment in 2018, this enterprise has continuously expanded its services and improved the quality of service to Vietnamese customers, thereby contributing significantly to the sustainable development of the entire logistics industry.

On January 9, 2025, this express delivery brand officially inaugurated the largest transit center in the North in Hanoi. Accordingly, the new transit center is located in Quang Minh Industrial Park (Me Linh district) - a strategic location of Hanoi city, convenient for receiving and delivering goods.

With an area of 38,000 m2, 23 inbound and 150 outbound gates, the center has dozens of conveyor belts and modern cargo handling areas with control layers using the DWS system integrated with automatic barcode scanning, weighing and size checking, ensuring optimal service for large volumes of goods, promptly meeting customer needs, even during peak times with a capacity of 2.4 million parcels/day.

In addition, the center is also equipped with specialized e-logistic standard equipment. Typically, the automatic goods sorting matrix system helps the process of goods entering and leaving only takes about 3 - 5 minutes for a bulk cargo sorted through DWS.

The crossbelt system helps to automatically sort small packages, helping to classify goods with up to 99% accuracy. Meanwhile, the Crossbelt regional feeding system helps to feed small packages with a capacity of up to 99,000 units/hour.

Green development and emission reduction

The equipped technologies not only help speed up the processing of goods but also minimize errors and improve the accuracy of delivery. This helps J&T Express meet current needs and be ready to welcome the explosion of the Vietnamese e-commerce market in the future.

Mr. Phan Binh - Brand Director of J&T Express - shared that one of the most special features of the Hanoi transit center is that it was designed, built and operated entirely by a company of J&T Global Group with practical experience in operating an international express delivery model, bringing optimization and efficiency in operation.

“With the launch of the new hub, J&T Express not only enhances the delivery experience but also expands new services, such as same-day delivery and on-demand delivery. This helps to flexibly and diversely meet the needs of customers. At the same time, the business is committed to supporting and cooperating closely with trading partners, creating strategic relationships,” Mr. Phan Binh affirmed.

Notably, aware of the increase in plastic waste from e-commerce, this express delivery brand has implemented many environmental protection programs, such as using recycled bags (eco-bags) for delivery.

According to the company, J&T Express uses an average of 42,192 recycled bags every day nationwide, with 7,226 recycled bags being used every day at the Hanoi Transit Center that was just inaugurated. The recycled bags can be reused many times, helping to reduce plastic waste in the environment and indirectly cut CO2 emissions.

Not only improving service quality, the company also always strives to "green" its business activities and demonstrate its social responsibility through sustainable and long-term actions for the community and the environment, such as: "Building a green future" (2023) collecting plastic waste for recycling and use as gifts.

At the same time, responding to the project "Planting 1 billion trees" approved by the Prime Minister, in the third quarter of 2024, the enterprise organized the program "Building the future - J&T Express joins hands in the project of planting 1 billion trees". In phase 1, the enterprise will participate in planting 15,000 new cajuput trees (melaleuca), helping to expand 1 hectare of alum-flooded cajuput forest in U Minh Thuong National Park, Kien Giang province. The project will continue to be extended and monitored for 3 years to ensure that the trees grow and develop well.

“With the inauguration of the modern transit center in Hanoi, J&T Express Vietnam not only affirms its position in the logistics industry but also demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development, accompanying the development of the logistics industry in Vietnam. The company is committed to continuing to invest in technology, network infrastructure and service quality, aiming for the goal of “green development and emission reduction” in the future,” Mr. Phan Binh emphasized.

Mr. Phan Binh - Brand Director of J&T Express: "Efforts to develop and invest in infrastructure and technology are the way J&T Express develops sustainably in Vietnam, with the brand commitment "On-time delivery - Complete receipt".
