There are beginnings

Việt NamViệt Nam21/03/2024

Almost everyone has to go through some initial steps to get started with a career or a job.

Observe a child. From simply sitting, the child stands up and takes their first tentative steps. Then, gradually, they walk with more confident strides. These are children who grow up healthy. For children with mobility impairments, it takes many arduous steps in physical therapy to learn to sit, then to stand upright, take their first steps independently, and finally walk like everyone else. From those initial confident steps, these children engage in many activities later on.

In all aspects of life, one needs to take initial steps. To learn the language of their ancestors, a child needs to listen to the pronunciations of their mother, father, and other relatives. Listening and repeating, gradually increasing the frequency, will enable them to communicate with their mother, father, grandparents, and other loved ones.

Then comes writing. When children go to school, they learn the writing system that their parents learned, the writing system used by their community, now passed on to the next generation. There are those first writing lessons, which are a bit daunting. Then come the lessons that follow. The language used by their ancestors, through years of learning, is enriched and enriched in the children, becoming more diverse and profound, expressing ideas in increasingly varied and insightful ways, including both beautiful words and scientific terminology. Then comes the foreign language that learners are exposed to. From simple words, to expanded vocabulary, and then gradually improving their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Learning a trade is like starting out for everyone. Trades are diverse, and the initial steps in learning a trade vary greatly. Nursing students, in addition to theory, need to learn many practical skills. Giving injections and IV fluids to patients are daily tasks. Some students will be hesitant in the beginning, needing to locate a vein a couple of times before succeeding. But later, their actions will become more precise, quick, and skillful.

Students aspiring to become teachers need even more practical training and classroom experience. They observe experienced teachers, learn from their lesson plans, and practice preparing lessons, paying close attention to the fundamentals. These student teachers have practical classroom sessions, teaching in front of students while their peers and supervising teachers observe. They receive feedback and learn from their experiences regarding the content of their lessons. The student teachers absorb this feedback and make adjustments for subsequent lessons. From these initial awkward experiences, these student teachers continue to learn and improve, and over time, many become excellent teachers, respected by generations of students.

A seamstress apprentice also needs to start by gradually familiarizing herself with needlework. She must carefully observe the techniques of her teachers. She must understand their instructions and diligently practice, little by little, right from the beginning. Careful observation, diligent practice, and attentive attention to detail will gradually lead to proficiency and improved skills.

The same applies to music students. They must start with fundamental theoretical knowledge, gradually accumulate it, and practice extensively on their favorite instruments before they can truly excel in performances with the instruments they cherish and are passionate about.

A person's entrepreneurial journey also needs a beginning. Learn about the work you want to do, how to do it, and what investments are needed for the equipment and supplies. Start by researching the market and outlets for your products. Then, dedicate yourself to it. Whether in agriculture or in service industries, buying and selling, start on a moderate scale, gradually expand as things go well, and continue investing.

Clearly, every profession needs a beginning. Learning, researching, practicing, mastering, and gradually developing skills. Mark Twain was absolutely right when he wrote: "The secret to success is to begin."

Life shows us that some people have a smooth start, while others struggle and face difficulties before achieving success. After the initial stages, how they develop depends on their own actions and real-life experiences. Some develop quickly and effectively when they direct their activities in the right direction and pursue their passions. A person's development also depends on luck: meeting dedicated mentors, working in a suitable environment, and finding like-minded colleagues. Sometimes, a person's entrepreneurial journey doesn't start smoothly. Some people encounter failures and difficulties in their first attempts. Others switch to a different path, and only later do they find success.

Life is always moving forward. And to achieve future success, one must not only take the first step. Albert Einstein once shared: "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving."

Indeed, to achieve further success, one must continuously work and remain focused on their activities and profession.

To begin, an active individual needs motivation to work. This motivation can come from within themselves, or sometimes from encouragement from family and friends. And to achieve further success, one needs to develop good habits in their daily professional practice. Could it be that today's success stems from a memorable beginning yesterday?
