(QBĐT) - Regarding the article published by Quang Binh Newspaper reflecting the situation of some individuals using high-tech methods on the internet to commit fraud, especially in the tourism sector in recent days, the authorities have promptly investigated and handled the matter.
>>> Many hotels in Quang Binh are being impersonated for fraudulent purposes.
To prevent fraudulent activities and property misappropriation in the tourism sector, especially the misuse of social media to create fanpages that violate the law, misappropriate property, and negatively impact tourists and the image of Quang Binh tourism, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH, TT and DL) has issued documents to tourism service businesses in the province. Accordingly, the solutions should focus on regularly reviewing and monitoring information on the internet to promptly detect fanpages impersonating the official fanpages of the units and quickly report them to the authorities for appropriate legal action.
Furthermore, tourism service businesses need to proactively implement solutions to enhance security and prevent information intrusion and forgery; they should also research and register copyrights and trademarks to establish ownership rights over their trademarks and protect them from infringement by other organizations and individuals. During operations, they should strengthen coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to raise awareness and warn about new methods and tactics used in high-tech online fraud, especially as the tourist season approaches.
In parallel with the above, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also sent a document to the Provincial Police regarding the results of verifying fake Facebook accounts and requested the Provincial Police to direct its professional units to verify and handle the cases promptly in order to prevent the misuse of social media to steal property and affect the province's tourism activities, especially during the peak tourist season.
Regarding this issue, the Provincial Police have promptly addressed the situation and advised residents and tourists to implement comprehensive solutions; enhance necessary skills when conducting online transactions, especially bank transfers. Upon discovering fake websites or signs of fraud, it is necessary to quickly report them to the nearest authorities for timely action.
The provincial police also advised tourism service businesses to ensure that information on their fan pages and websites is accurate and complete; to publicly disclose deposit policies, payment methods, and official bank accounts on all platforms; to regularly check pages with similar names to detect fraudulent activity early; and to warn customers about the risk of fraud from fake fan pages and websites. When suspected fraud is detected, they should promptly report it to the local police for handling. They should also provide relevant information and evidence to assist in the investigation.
Citizens need to proactively protect their personal property, and accommodation establishments should strengthen inspections to protect their reputation and brand; at the same time, they should actively cooperate with functional forces to investigate and strictly handle violations in accordance with the law.
