On August 6, news from Dakrong Regional Medical Center, Quang Tri province, doctors performed an endoscopic procedure to remove a leech about 4cm long from the nose of a 14-year-old patient.
The patient is HVD (born in 2011), residing in Chai village, Dakrong commune. D. was brought to the medical facility with difficulty breathing and bleeding from the nose. Upon examination, the doctor discovered a large leech in the patient’s nose and removed it.

Relatives said that about 10 days ago, D. was bathing in a stream and possibly got a leech in his nose.
Doctors recommend that people, especially children, be careful when bathing in streams to avoid parasites entering the body through the nose and mouth. When there are unusual health symptoms, people should go to a medical facility for timely diagnosis and treatment.
