Super "awesome" military equipment
At the preliminary rehearsal, the display of equipment and weapons by the host country, the Russian Federation, attracted attention and made a strong impression on the participating delegations and those present.
Traditionally, the parade forces are divided into regiments, battalions and companies, according to type and service, then military convoys, tanks, armored vehicles, self-propelled vehicles, new and modern weapons follow.
In an analysis by Army Recognition magazine, the editorial team reviews a series of vehicles expected to appear in the upcoming special event in Russia, including upgraded and improved equipment with many advanced features.
Notably, the T-90M "Proryv" is Russia's most advanced combat-proven main battle tank currently in service. It features a new welded turret design armed with a 125mm 2A46M-5 gun capable of firing anti-tank guided missiles, along with a Kalina fire control system for improved target acquisition and engagement. The tank includes a panoramic sighting system, thermal imaging, and a remotely controlled 7.62mm machine gun.
The T-90M also incorporates advanced armor with Relikt ERA and a fully digital battle management system that enhances coordination with other units. Additional protection includes slat armor, under-hull mine protection, and an NBC (nuclear-biological-chemical) defense system. With a powerful V-92S2F engine producing 1,130 horsepower, the T-90M balances speed, firepower, and protection, making it the cornerstone of the modern Russian armored force.

In addition, the T-72B3M is also expected to appear in the upcoming parade. The T-72B3M is the most advanced modernized version of the old T-72 tank platform, which is considered to meet contemporary combat standards. The system has a 125mm 2A46M-5 smoothbore gun with an autoloader, capable of firing APFSDS, HE-FRAG and ATGM ammunition. The tank is also equipped with a new Sosna-U multi-channel thermal sighting system, improved fire control capabilities and an upgraded engine that produces up to 1,130 horsepower for better mobility.
The T-72B3M incorporates explosive reactive armor and cage armor packages for increased protection against RPGs (anti-tank grenade launchers) and ATGMs (anti-tank guided missiles), improved warning systems and communications equipment. This version extends the life of the T-72 platform and allows it to continue operating effectively in mixed environments alongside more modern tanks such as the T-90M.
The RS-24 Yars is a mobile intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system equipped with multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRVs). It has a range of up to 12,000 km and can carry multiple nuclear warheads, enhancing strategic deterrence.
Mounted on transporter-erector-launcher (TEL), the Yars system is highly mobile and survivable, making it difficult to detect and target. The deployment underscores Russia’s commitment to maintaining a reliable and modern nuclear triad.
The S-400 "Triumf" is a long-range surface-to-air missile system designed to defend against aircraft, UAVs, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. It can engage targets at ranges of up to 400 km and altitudes of up to 30 km, providing comprehensive air defense coverage.

Equipped with a wide range of missiles and advanced radar systems, the S-400 can track and engage multiple targets simultaneously, making it a key component of Russia's integrated air defense network. The deployment of the S-400 enhances the ability to protect strategic assets and forces against airborne threats.
From main battle tanks like the T-72B3M and T-90M to wheeled self-propelled guns and guided-launch systems, the equipment is expected to fit into Russia’s current military strategy. Whether designed for rapid assault, urban combat, logistics or unmanned operations, each system reflects a strategic intent – a combination of military heritage and technological innovation.
The parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 - May 9, 2025) will take place at 10:00 a.m. (local time) on May 9 on Red Square, Moscow, and is expected to last for 2 hours.
During the ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin will deliver a speech, expressing deep gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for independence and peace. The ceremony will end with a sacred minute of silence and a spectacular display of modern military equipment and the Russian Air Force in the sky.
Since the victory in 1945, there have been 34 major parades, of which the first Victory Day Parade took place in Red Square on June 24, 1945, with the participation of 40,000 Red Army troops and nearly 2,000 military equipment. Since 1995, Victory Day on May 9 has been officially marked by the red calendar and has become a national holiday of the Russian Federation with annual parades.
On May 7, 2025, at Red Square in Moscow, Russia, the Vietnam People's Army delegation and military delegations from many countries participated in the general rehearsal of the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. According to experts, Russia's official invitation to Vietnam to send troops to participate in the parade at Red Square shows the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, especially in the field of defense cooperation.
