Originating from the parade program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), "national concert" has become a popular term used by young people to identify state-scale art programs.

In recent days, a series of grand concerts have been held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. Typical examples include: “V Concert - Radiant Vietnam” and “V Fest - Glorious Youth” produced by VTV, attracting about 25,000 young audiences to the Vietnam Exhibition Center every night; “Fatherland in the Heart” organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee dyed My Dinh National Stadium red with the colors of more than 50,000 attendees; “Proud to be Vietnamese” hosted by the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, filled My Dinh National Stadium with more than 30,000 audiences... Notably, on the evening of September 1, the national art program “80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness” with an expected scale of 30,000 people will be held at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi.

These are unprecedented numbers in the history of organizing political art programs. This not only shows the shaping of the trend of enjoying patriotic music among the public, especially the youth, but also affirms the attraction and potential to promote the cultural industry. Notably, whether the program is free or paid, it has caused a "ticket fever" on all platforms.

“Emotional explosion” is the general opinion of most viewers of the series of art programs celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2, held in Hanoi in recent days.

Despite the rain, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Linh, from Tuy Hoa ward, currently living and working in Hanoi, along with her two close friends still went to the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) to join in the vibrant atmosphere of the concert "Vietnam in me". All three people wore raincoats and stood right at the security fence to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Ms. Linh shared: The concert “Vietnam in me” is part of the series of activities of the Exhibition of socio -economic achievements on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), to honor historical values and national spirit. Because of the special meaning of this concert, we did not mind the rain to come and watch. To prepare for this special program, I bought a red flag shirt with a yellow star to join everyone.

Young people also eagerly go hunting for tickets to see the art programs celebrating the country's great holiday. These programs bring new and impressive musical experiences, while awakening and spreading pride and love for the homeland and country. Moreover, in these programs, the audience not only watches and enjoys the art but also becomes a part of the program, singing along with the artists.

Images of a large stage glowing with red flags with yellow stars, tens of thousands of spectators standing up, facing the red flag with yellow stars fluttering in the middle of the stadium and singing the National Anthem in unison, singing their favorite songs brought emotional musical experiences and at the same time awakened feelings of pride and sacredness about the Fatherland.

In its strategy for developing cultural industries, the Government has identified performing arts as one of 12 key sectors, aiming to achieve revenue of about 31 million USD by 2030. Thus, the successful organization of grand concerts is a testament to the great potential of the Vietnamese performing industry.

Recognizing the positive effects of the “national concerts”, cultural management agencies at all levels have become increasingly active. Most recently, the Government Office has issued a document conveying the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on researching and proposing a plan to organize concerts in the coming time. Accordingly, the concerts have innovative content, encourage the creativity of artists and program makers, apply modern performance technology and research the name “Vietnam Spirit Festival”, select suitable regions, provinces and cities to organize concerts at appropriate times, creating effects and positive energy for the whole nation.

Famous Vietnamese sports figures also participated in the national concerts. In the photo: Shooter Pham Quang Huy, football player Quang Hai, swimmer Anh Vien, and disabled weightlifter Le Van Cong participated in the national concert “Fatherland in the Heart”. Photo: Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also requested that there should be no situation of taking advantage of organizations that do not ensure quality, violate regulations, violate traditional customs, and negatively affect the cultural environment and cultural and spiritual life of the people.

Dr. Kim Nguyen Bao, Event Scriptwriter, Creative Director of Ken-C@ncept Content Services, from Binh Kien Ward, Dak Lak Province, believes that the "national concert" is not something new, but just a change in the form of expression. Patriotism in art is a legacy, a unique point in the national culture and personality and aesthetics of the Vietnamese people. It has always existed in each period with different forms.

This year, the "national concerts" were held with the presence of many generations of artists, the maximum application of technology and especially the support of young people, bringing great optimism and creating great solidarity while the country is undergoing transformation.

The national concerts celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) successfully conveyed patriotism and national pride. Photo: Finn Studio

Besides, the successful organization of “national concerts”, especially those with tens of thousands of spectators, is a boost for the performance industry, a signal to international partners about Vietnam’s event organization capacity. This is something we are prioritizing and investing in our cultural industry strategy.

“I feel very optimistic that we can achieve many goals at the same time, from education, raising awareness among young people, promoting patriotism to presenting a professional face of the performing industry,” Dr. Kim Nguyen Bao expressed.

With their special scale, quality and influence, the "national concerts" have gone beyond the framework of artistic events, becoming symbols of unity, affirming that when millions of hearts beat together, national strength will be multiplied.
