(HNMO) - On June 1, information from Me Linh district said that Me Linh district police have decided to prosecute the criminal case of "Extortion of property" that occurred in Thach Da commune.
Accordingly, immediately after receiving information from people about a group of subjects showing signs of "protection" activities, leading to price gouging in rice harvests in Thach Da commune, the Standing Committee of Me Linh District Party Committee directed the District Police to urgently investigate and strictly handle the violators.
Pursuant to Articles 56, 57, 145, 146 and 147 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Investigation Police Agency (Me Linh District Police) has stepped in and urgently investigated the case. From there, Me Linh District Police has issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings to strictly handle the related subjects according to the provisions of law.
Previously, on May 31, Hanoi Moi Newspaper published an article titled “Me Linh: Is there any “protection” of harvesters in Thach Da commune?”, which reflected on signs of “protection” and forcing farmers to rent harvesters at high prices in Thach Da commune. Regarding this incident, the Standing Committee of Me Linh District Party Committee issued a directive document, assigning the District People’s Committee to urgently inspect, clarify information, strictly handle violations and report to the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee before June 8, 2023.
At the same time, the District Party Committee assigned the District Police to focus on investigating and verifying the case; resolutely and strictly handle subjects with acts of "protection" and threatening people. In addition, the District Party Committee directed the Party Committees of communes and towns to propagate and remind people to be on guard, raise vigilance against the above type of crime; promptly denounce subjects with acts of "protection" and threatening, to have measures to handle...
