In recent days, many social media sites have been spreading information about the Hanoi Traffic Police Department and the Hanoi City Police's plan to control alcohol levels. The posts all share the same content: "The Traffic Police Department will conduct a special operation in provinces and cities for one month. In each province and city, alcohol levels will be checked on all provincial and national highways from 8 AM to 10 PM daily."

Hanoi police in Bac Tin have established 15 teams to monitor the level of human activity (Figure 1).

Refute inaccurate information on social media.

Meanwhile, in Hanoi, posts also claimed that the city would establish 15 special Task Force 212 teams to control alcohol levels, along with dozens of locations and routes where checks would be conducted.

The Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police affirms that the information circulating on social media is false. During the peak period before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024, the Hanoi Traffic Police's resolute handling of drivers with high blood alcohol levels and other violations that cause accidents and traffic congestion is a regular practice.

During the upcoming peak period, the local teams and inter-agency task forces of the Hanoi City Police will continue to work as usual. The locations of the checkpoints for handling violations will always be kept confidential, so there will be no information leaks.

The Traffic Police Department also refuted the information being circulated. They affirmed that they have issued a specific plan to localities to ensure traffic safety and social order on all three modes of transport: road, rail, and inland waterway. Before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, the nationwide traffic police force will operate continuously throughout all hours and areas to prevent violations. This plan will last until March 9th.

The city police affirm that it is necessary for citizens to post information that warns against and prevents drunk driving and other legal violations. However, this must be done with legal accuracy.
