The Criminal Enforcement and Judicial Support Police Department (PC10) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police announced that it is simultaneously launching a 45-day intensive campaign to clean up the area, aiming for a drug-free city by 2030.
After half a month of operation (from May 15th to May 30th), the management and enforcement of criminal judgments in the area have achieved many key results.
A representative from PC10 stated that over the past 15 days, the unit has proactively coordinated with the police in communes and wards to conduct a comprehensive review and close management of individuals serving criminal sentences in the community (such as those with suspended sentences or non-custodial rehabilitation).
Through investigation and the application of professional measures, the authorities successfully discovered and arrested 7 individuals who were wanted for absconding before serving their sentences. Among them, 2 individuals had been sentenced to over 10 years in prison for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
Recently, the professional forces of the Ho Chi Minh City Police have continuously dismantled many major cases (typically the inter-provincial drug trafficking case which prosecuted more than 140 defendants, the cyanide trafficking case which prosecuted 35 individuals...). This has led to a sharp increase in the number of people temporarily detained or imprisoned throughout the city, averaging a 30% to 40% increase compared to before.
To address the increasing pressure at detention centers, the PC10 Department inspected all facilities, coordinated the safe transfer of 812 detainees between detention facilities, ensuring that detainee management was carried out in accordance with regulations and without overcrowding.
Besides managing the prison, over the past 15 days, hundreds of officers and soldiers from PC10 have been mobilized to strictly protect key court trials. These include the appeal hearing of Doan Huu Luong and his accomplices at the High People's Court; the trial of Dao Minh Quan and his accomplices at the B34 Detention Center; and dozens of other criminal and civil trials.
At the accommodation facility managed by the PC10 Department, despite the limited infrastructure, the classification, management, and medical care for foreigners are strictly maintained.
Currently, this facility manages 343 residents from 27 different nationalities. Those with underlying health conditions are coordinated with local health authorities for timely examinations and medication provision.
According to the head of PC10, the results achieved in the first half of the campaign serve as a foundation for the unit to continue tightening management in the remaining 30 days and nights, determined to prevent criminals from escaping and ensure security and order for the city.
