Announcing the title of President of Foreign Trade University for the term 2020-2025

On July 2, in Hanoi, Foreign Trade University held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Minister of Education and Training on recognizing Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong as the Rector of Foreign Trade University for the 2020-2025 term from July 1.

Deputy Ministerof Education and Training Hoang Minh Son presented the decision to recognize the position of Rector of Foreign Trade University for the 2020-2025 term to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training , Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son sent his congratulations to the teachers, students and especially Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong, who has received the trust of the school. This is a worthy recognition of her capacity and contributions to the education sector in general and to the Foreign Trade University in particular.

Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son affirmed: The Ministry of Education and Training has high expectations and trust in the new Principal, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong - a person who grew up at this school, has a solid professional foundation, has been trained domestically and internationally, has rich practical experience and a strong spirit of innovation, especially trained, nurtured and educated by previous generations of teachers.

Strongly develop an advanced and modern university governance model, taking university autonomy as the foundation and driving force, coupled with implementing accountability, promoting transformation, and strongly applying digital technology and artificial intelligence in governance, research, teaching, and all aspects of operation.

Improve training quality associated with research, practice, market demand, sustainable development orientation, promote interdisciplinary program innovation, integrate global skills and digital skills.

Building and developing a team of lecturers is a key factor in determining the quality of training, they are highly qualified scientists, rich in academic qualities, capable of independent research, international cooperation and practical experience; creating an open, creative working, teaching and learning environment, promoting comprehensive development.

Promote international cooperation, proactively integrate deeply and extensively, cooperate with prestigious universities in the world, thereby increasing competitiveness, creating academic attraction and effective knowledge transfer.

Mobilize and effectively use all resources to improve, especially to expand the school campus construction area, learning-research-creation space, ensuring the comprehensive and sustainable development of the school in the future.

Also at the ceremony, the Deputy Minister acknowledged and praised the outstanding contributions of Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, former Rector, to the Foreign Trade University in particular and higher education in general over the past time. Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son also expressed his hope that with his extensive working experience, in the coming time, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan will continue to make many contributions of his intelligence and experience to the development of the Foreign Trade University, as well as the education sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Principal of Foreign Trade University, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong expressed her emotion and honor at being officially assigned the responsibility of Principal.

At the same time, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong pledged to run the organization according to principles, promote democracy, strengthen internal solidarity, ensure close and effective coordination in the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the School Council and the Board of Directors, gradually forming a culture in implementing the development strategy, and at the same time closely following the motto to promote culture.

Building a sustainable development foundation goes from strengthening the foundation and pillars to perfecting functions to bring value to subjects in the educational ecosystem, while identifying breakthrough development directions and thoroughly applying them in the context of limited resources to achieve the school's strategic development goals.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong was born in 1977, is a former student of the 34th course majoring in Foreign Economics at the Foreign Trade University, graduated with a Master's degree in Economics from Aarhus University (Denmark), and received a PhD in Economics from the Foreign Trade University.

Before being appointed as the Principal of Foreign Trade University, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong held the position of Vice Principal in charge of full-time undergraduate and postgraduate training, international cooperation, business cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship, student affairs...

With 30 years of working at Foreign Trade University since she was a student, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thu Huong has held many positions at the university such as: Head of Professional Department of Vietnam-Japan Human Resource Development Institute, Head of Planning and Finance Department, Head of Training Management Department and Vice President of Foreign Trade University from 2019 to present.
