Ministry of Information and Communications announces more than 400 websites violating the law

The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (PTTH&TTDT, Ministry of Information and Communications) has just updated the list of electronic information sites that violate the law (abbreviated as Black List) for 2023.

These are websites that the Ministry of Information and Communications requests advertising service providers, advertising publishers, and advertisers not to publish advertising products on due to violating content.

Specifically, in December 2023, 98 websites were put on the Blacklist, bringing the total number of illegal websites in 2023 to 403.

These are all websites that provide advertising content for betting, illegal electronic games of a gambling nature, prize exchange... based on the results of screening, statistics, and evaluation of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information.

Not only announcing the list of websites violating the law, in March 2023, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information for the first time announced the list of "verified" content on the network (abbreviated as White List).

The launch of the White List and Black List is one of the solutions proposed by the Ministry of Information and Communications to strengthen the management of advertising activities on the Internet in Vietnam.

Tiktoker Hua Quoc Anh fined 7.5 million VND

On January 3, 2024, the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (PA05) - Ho Chi Minh City Police worked with and administratively sanctioned Mr. Hua Quoc Anh (the subject using the TikTok account "Hua Quoc Anh") for providing false information, distorting, slandering, and insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, honor and dignity of individuals with a fine of 7.5 million VND.

The Department of Information and Communications also requested TikToker Hua Quoc Anh to seriously learn from similar incidents in the future and comply with relevant legal regulations when using the Internet and social networks. Importantly, he needs to use the Internet and social networks responsibly, civilly, progressively, and in a practical way.

Previously, on November 4, 2023, TikToker Hua Quoc Anh with 700,000 followers and nearly 20 million likes posted a 1 minute 25 second video describing a photo shoot at Angkor Wat temple (Cambodia), but combined images of the Thai flag, 2 Thai kings and inserted the sound "Hello Thailand".

Immediately after, this video caused outrage among social media communities in both Cambodia and Vietnam.

More than 70% of organizations have not patched the security vulnerabilities warned

The Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) recommends that agencies, organizations and businesses check, review and identify computers using Windows operating systems that are likely to be affected in order to promptly update patches to avoid the risk of being attacked.

Right before the 2024 New Year holiday, in a document requesting agencies, organizations and enterprises to strengthen the work of ensuring network information security, the Department of Information Security also recommended that units proactively review vulnerabilities and weaknesses in information systems under their management, deploy preventive solutions and thoroughly overcome vulnerabilities and weaknesses warned by the Department.

In addition, every month, the Information Security Department has statistics on the number of weaknesses and information security vulnerabilities in the information systems of state agencies. Through the assessment, this agency has warned and guided ministries, branches and localities to overcome dangerous weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

Data from the Department of Information Security also shows that in the three months of September, October and November 2023, the number of weaknesses and information security vulnerabilities on computers of state agencies and organizations were very large and continuously increasing, reaching 57,916, 59,935 and 71,998 weaknesses and vulnerabilities, respectively.

However, according to a representative of the Information Security Department, despite being regularly warned about risks, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses in the system, more than 70% of organizations have not paid attention to reviewing and handling updates and patching the warned vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
