On June 18th, the grading committee for the 10th grade exams in Ho Chi Minh City completed the process of verifying results and compiling scores. Therefore, the announcement of 10th grade exam results may be one day earlier than initially planned.

As soon as the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announces the exam results, parents and students can check them on the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper website here.

According to the grading committee, the distribution of scores in mathematics held several surprises. Specifically, the highest number of candidates scored 5 points, with 7,167 students; 49 students scored 10 points; 31 students scored 9.75 points; and 357 students scored 8.5 points...

Of the three subjects in the 10th grade entrance exam, mathematics has a lower average score than the other two. However, it is also the subject that shows the clearest differentiation among students, perfectly meeting the requirements of the university entrance exam.

To support this observation, one examiner stated that, contrary to predictions of low scores in mathematics, the overall score distribution this year was similar to the previous year. Many students were able to answer parts a and b correctly in questions 7 and 8.

The grading committee also considered and awarded points in increments of 0.25 for each candidate. This is beneficial for candidates because even those who only answered a small part of the question received points.

On the other hand, in this year's math exam, the percentage of failing papers decreased significantly compared to previous years. While the number of candidates achieving average scores (5) was the most common, scores from 5.5 to 10 were evenly distributed - meaning the exam accurately assessed the ability of each candidate....

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the cutoff score for 10th grade is automatically calculated based on the total score of the three exam subjects, the number of applicants to a school, and the school's enrollment quota.

For the 2024-2025 school year, the total enrollment quota for 10th grade in Ho Chi Minh City is 77,355 students, while more than 98,000 students will take the entrance exam. Therefore, this year's 10th grade entrance exam will see 78.3% of candidates successfully admitted to public high schools.
