Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong introduces the province's ancient tea products
The visit of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn aims to develop and expand the Project “Improving the quality of life for children and youth in the Asia- Pacific region” in Vietnam, contributing to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. In particular, Nam Cuong Primary School, Lao Cai City is one of the Vietnamese schools surveyed and selected to participate in the Project.

Nam Cuong Primary School has a total area of nearly 16,000m2. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school has a total of 20 classes and 690 students. Participating in the project, students will practice a number of activities such as: making bean sprouts, growing hydroponic vegetables, growing vegetables in the school garden to improve the lunch meals of students at school. Students practice making biofertilizers to fertilize the experimental gardens on campus such as: vegetable garden, fruit garden, flower garden, green trees... In addition, students receive nutritional health care, regular health check-ups, are weighed, measured, and monitored for height and weight, and are instructed on how to prevent seasonal diseases...

The project "Improving the quality of life of children and youth in the Asia- Pacific region" sponsored by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in a number of schools in Vietnam since 2006 has contributed significantly to improving the overall quality of students in disadvantaged areas in Vietnam. Informing Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn about the school's conditions when participating in the project, Ms. Doan Thi Duyen, Principal of the school, said: The school has a large area, with areas for agricultural development activities, growing vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees. The goal of agricultural development in schools is an educational activity for students to practice and experiment with basic skills in accordance with the General Education Program of the Ministry of Education and Training. Along with that, the school sets a goal that 100% of cadres, teachers, staff and students receive regular health care and are healthy enough to work and study.

The Thai Princess and the delegation visited and surveyed some facilities at the school such as: the medical area, library, hand washing area for students; attended English learning activities of students; visited and experienced the local agricultural products display area, clean water operation system, bio-fertilizer and vegetable growing area for students, community corner, and practiced art such as scarf embroidery and painting.
