Thanks to the care of her family, agencies, units, and local authorities, Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Phuoc, now 110 years old in Van Phu ward, is still living happily and healthily.
Along with the Youth Volunteer Force nationwide, since its early days of establishment, the Youth Volunteer Force of the Homeland has always upheld the spirit of patriotism, was ready to overcome difficulties and hardships, bravely fought and sacrificed, and contributed to the glorious history of the nation. With the spirit of "three readiness", "five volunteering", tens of thousands of Youth Volunteers have been present on all fronts, serving in combat and directly fighting, excellently completing all assigned tasks, dedicating their youth and blood to the cause of national liberation and reunification. After completing their tasks, many Youth Volunteers volunteered to transfer to military units to directly participate in combat or transferred to work at state and local agencies and enterprises. In the early years after the war, despite many difficulties, with the spirit and will of "Nothing is difficult/Only fear of not being steadfast", the Youth Volunteers of the Land of Ancestors always promoted the good tradition, overcame difficulties, strived, studied and trained, actively contributed to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, adding to the glorious tradition of the Youth Volunteers. Up to now, although most of them are old, the former Youth Volunteers have always set a shining example, actively participating in social work, local patriotic emulation movements...
The Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers always cares about educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions.
Nearly 80 years old, one ear can no longer hear clearly due to the consequences of the war, but former Youth Volunteer Soldier Nguyen Thiet Lam, Dong Hop residential group, Vinh Yen ward, is still active and exemplary in the activities and movements of the locality and the Association of Former Youth Volunteer Soldiers. Recalling the years participating in the Youth Volunteer Soldiers, Mr. Lam could not help but be moved: “In 1972, I joined the Youth Volunteer Soldiers and was assigned to the Youth Volunteer Soldiers Team 253 (the Youth Volunteer Soldiers of the former Vinh Phu province). My unit was assigned to gather in Mai Chau commune and then move to Laos to carry out the task of opening a route connecting the Vieng Xay revolutionary base, Hua Phan province to the Vietnam border at the request of Lao friends. In the context of war, with poor conditions, but with youthful strength and determination, we fought, worked and produced, and tried to study to improve our cultural level. Those were difficult but extremely heroic years”.
In 1974, after completing his Youth Volunteer mission, Mr. Lam returned to continue his studies at the Railway College (under the General Department of Railways). After completing his studies, he volunteered to work in Da Nang . In 1984, Mr. Lam was assigned to work at the Vinh Phu Food Department; in 1987, he was assigned to work at the Tam Dao Food Company. Retiring in 1993, he returned to his locality and continued to participate in social activities and work. For many years, he was the Head of the Dong Hop residential group, Vinh Yen ward, and Chairman of the Association of Former Youth Volunteers of Vinh Yen city (old).
Former youth volunteers of Tam Hong commune together recall memories of the old battlefield.
In gratitude for the great contributions of the Youth Volunteer Force through the ages, with the tradition of "remembering the source of drinking water" and "repaying gratitude", over the years, Phu Tho province has always paid attention to fully and promptly implementing policies and regimes for former Youth Volunteer Force. With the attention and leadership of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the Association of Former Youth Volunteer Force at all levels in the province has been consolidated and increasingly developed, promoting its important role in gathering and uniting members; performing well the task of being a historical witness and educating the revolutionary tradition for the younger generation.
