Trapped in floodwaters, 7 people in Hieu Giang commune were luckily rescued.

QTO - On the evening of November 3, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hieu Giang Commune, Tran Thanh Bac, confirmed that the Commune Police force coordinated with the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team No. 1 of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Provincial Police, to promptly and successfully rescue 7 local people trapped in floodwaters.

Specifically, in the late afternoon of the same day, Hieu Giang Commune Police received a report that some people were trapped by rapidly rising floodwaters on the Hieu River while catching crickets or fishing. Specifically, 4 people were trapped on a bamboo slat in the middle of the Hieu River through An Thai Village; 1 person from Binh My Village was trapped in the river section through the village and 2 people residing in Tan Hiep Village could not return home due to the rising floodwaters on the Hieu River through Dau Binh Village.

Immediately after that, Hieu Giang Commune Police reported and coordinated with Fire Fighting and Rescue Team No. 1, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department to organize forces and equipment to the scene to deploy rescue plans. By 7:30 p.m. the same day, all 7 people in 3 different trapped positions were successfully rescued by the rescue forces and brought home safely.

Chairman of Hieu Giang Commune People's Committee Tran Thanh Bac informed that due to prolonged heavy rain, the water level on the rivers passing through the commune is rising rapidly, therefore, the local government has stepped up propaganda, mobilization and advised people not to arbitrarily catch crickets, fish, or collect firewood along the river banks to limit unfortunate risks. The locality also directed forces to increase patrols, block off key locations and support people to raise their belongings and move to a safe place if necessary.
