(Vietnam Portal) Within the framework of her visit and work in Vietnam, this morning, August 15, 2024, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand and her delegation visited and worked at Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School, Dong Ha City ( Quang Tri ).

Welcoming the delegation were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam; leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities, together with the staff, teachers and students of Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School.

The visit of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn aims to develop and expand the project “Improving the quality of life for children and youth in the Asia- Pacific region” in Vietnam, contributing to the development of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand. In particular, Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School, Dong Ha City is one of the Vietnamese schools selected to participate in the project.

At the meeting, the leaders of Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School reported an overview of the school; the school's conditions when participating in the project "Improving the quality of life for children and adolescents in the Asia - Pacific region".

Accordingly, Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary School was established in June 1994. During the construction and development process, the school has constantly strived to compete in teaching and learning well, always completing its tasks excellently and achieving many outstanding achievements. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school has 38 staff, teachers and employees, 816 students. In August 2023, the school participated in the project "Improving the quality of life for children and youth in the Asia-Pacific region" founded by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

In March 2024, the school welcomed a delegation from the Royal Thai Princess Project Office to visit and organize skills training activities for teachers and students on: Growing static hydroponic vegetables; growing bean sprouts, making fertilizers, consulting on school health, semi-boarding kitchens... The school has implemented activities by establishing the "I love agriculture" club, attracting a large number of students, teachers and parents to participate. The activities have helped students experience and practice to encourage their love of nature as well as educate them on life skills.

During the construction and development process, the school has always inherited and promoted the traditions of previous generations, constantly striving to compete in teaching well, studying well, always completing tasks excellently and achieving outstanding achievements. In 2009, the school was recognized as meeting National standards level II. In 2014, the quality was assessed to reach level 3. In the 2016-2017 and 2019-2020 school years, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Emulation Flag. In the 2019-2020 school year, the school was awarded the Emulation Flag of the Prime Minister. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school continues to be at the top of the schools that have completed their tasks excellently with 9 students winning national prizes, 55 students winning provincial prizes and 89 students winning city prizes.

During her visit to the school, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhon of Thailand presented gifts to the school. The gifts included 5 desktop computers; 2 water bottles; school supplies; physical education and sports equipment; and books to support teaching and learning at the school. The gifts contributed to motivating and encouraging teachers and students before the new school year, while helping the school continue to improve the quality of teaching and comprehensive education for students.

After the working session, the Thai Princess and the delegation toured the school's facilities, expressing their satisfaction when visiting the medical room; the reading experience area outside the schoolyard; the award ceremony for drawing pictures about the dream vegetable garden; the project's green vegetable garden; the school's small planning activity area (collecting and classifying garbage); the library; the kitchen area and visiting a classroom.

It is known that the project "Improving the quality of life for children and adolescents in the Asia-Pacific region" is sponsored by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The project is implemented to raise community awareness of their own responsibility for improving the quality of life for their children, ensuring that students develop in a balanced way both physically and mentally; providing a portion of green vegetables and meat, fish, and eggs for students' lunches at school; teaching students skills in vegetable care and poultry farming (chickens, geese, and ducks); teaching them life skills such as self-care, personal hygiene, and keeping the environment green - clean - beautiful.
