Trade unions innovate and provide practical support for workers.

On June 3rd, the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, for the term 2026-2031, a significant political event for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization, took place at the National Convention Center with its preliminary session.

Innovation and practical care for union members and workers is a key focus of the Vietnam Trade Union's activities. General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized, "Caring for workers is not just about providing material support during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), but more importantly, about creating stable jobs, better incomes, a safer working environment, decent housing, more convenient schools, closer access to healthcare services, and a richer cultural and spiritual life."

The guidance of the General Secretary and President has been translated into concrete actions by trade unions at all levels, leading to innovations and breakthroughs in providing more practical care for nearly 10 million union members and workers nationwide. As a companion to workers, local trade unions are aiming to build a completely new model of rental housing for workers, in anticipation of the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.

Bringing her motorbike, which she has used for 11 years, to the free maintenance program for workers, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bong, a worker at PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd., said that what she wanted was not just to have her motorbike repaired, but also peace of mind on her daily commute.

According to Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep, Chairman of the Trade Union of PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd., with approximately 40,000 workers, traffic safety is directly linked to the safety of each worker's family.

"Trade unions and businesses always want workers to go to work safely and happily and return home safely," Mr. Nghiep said.

Many union programs are now focused on addressing the more fundamental needs of workers, such as housing, benefits, and life stability.

There were days when they had to travel dozens of kilometers to work, lacking a stable place to live. Thanks to practical support from the Trade Union, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoang and his wife, workers at Fukang Technology Company (Bac Ninh), were able to buy a social housing unit, realizing their dream of a true home.

Over the past five years, trade unions at all levels have continued to steadfastly fulfill their mission of representing, caring for, and protecting the rights of workers and accompanying the country's development with practical welfare programs such as "Tet Reunion," "Workers' Month," "Trade Union Shelter," "Member Welfare," and "Housing for Workers to Rent, Trade Union Institutions." Nearly 23 million union members and workers have received support and care during each Tet holiday, with a total amount of nearly 15,000 billion VND.

The 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union focused on in-depth discussions of core topics: Protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers; Developing union membership, establishing grassroots trade unions and participating in Party development; Reforming trade union finances and welfare; Reforming propaganda, mobilization and women's affairs; Implementing the "Excellent Worker, High Productivity, Good Income" emulation movement, contributing to achieving double-digit growth targets.

With the spirit of "Innovation - Democracy - Unity - Development," the Vietnam Trade Union is determined to carry out strong and comprehensive reforms, worthy of being a solid political and social foundation of the Party and the State, a source of trust, support, and a warm common home for the working class and laborers.
