In Hamlet 22, Khanh Lam Commune , from morning to evening, fire watchtowers are always manned. Each day, households take turns assigning two people to watch from 10 am to 4 pm – the hottest time of day. Under the forest canopy, many households take advantage of the time to clear undergrowth and bushes, creating firebreaks. Furthermore, local youth groups are always ready to respond to any emergency.

According to local residents, protecting the forest during the dry season is no longer solely the responsibility of the authorities but has become a community effort. From signing commitments to protect the forest to proactively equipping themselves with additional pumps and firefighting equipment, everything is geared towards the goal of quickly responding to any incidents that may occur.

The PCCCR (Community-Based Forest Fire Prevention and Control) plans for the dry season are being implemented synchronously by all units throughout the forest area of U Minh Ha One-Member Limited Liability Company.

Comrade Tran Viet Hong, Secretary of the Party Branch of Hamlet 22, said: “Currently, people are very conscious of protecting the forest. During the dry season, people proactively clean under the forest canopy, clear bushes, and strictly comply with regulations on fire prevention and control. At the same time, people have also agreed to equip themselves with more water pumps to serve on-site firefighting efforts.”
