Cong Hau's hat-trick helped Vietnam U19 easily defeat Timor Leste U19 3-0, thus having a successful opening match at the 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship.

Vietnam U19 made an impressive start at the 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship with a convincing 3-0 victory over Timor Leste U19 on the afternoon of June 1st at the North Sumatra Stadium (Indonesia). Striker Cong Hau became the hero of the match, scoring a hat-trick and securing all three points for Coach Yutaka's team.

From the second minute, Vietnam U19 took an early lead. Following a well-coordinated play on the right wing, Duc Vu delivered a precise through pass, allowing Cong Hau to break free and face goalkeeper Oliveira. The striker wearing number 9 didn't miss the opportunity, finishing neatly past the opposing goalkeeper to open the scoring for Vietnam U19.

Despite scoring an early goal, the Vietnam U19 team didn't completely dominate the game. Coach Yutaka's team controlled possession better but faced a fierce playing style from Timor Leste U19. The red-shirted defense, especially on the left flank, sometimes showed a lack of solidity, creating opportunities for the opposition to launch dangerous attacks. In the 83rd minute, from a precise cross by Quoc Khanh from the right wing, Cong Hau executed a spectacular overhead volley, sending the ball into the left corner of the goal, doubling the lead for Vietnam U19.

In the 90+1 minute, the striker completed his impressive hat-trick. Receiving a pass from a teammate, Cong Hau sprinted forward to face goalkeeper Oliveira and finished accurately with his right foot, sealing a 3-0 victory for Vietnam U19.
