To ensure food safety during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) and Spring Festival 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has requested its affiliated units and the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of provinces and centrally-administered cities to proactively implement a comprehensive range of solutions according to their assigned functions and tasks.
Accordingly, specialized units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will strengthen coordination with the health sector and relevant agencies in implementing food safety assurance work; proactively participate in inter-agency inspection teams at the central level as planned. At the same time, they will intensify inspections and monitoring of food safety conditions at food production and business establishments under their management; promptly handle and publicly disclose violations.
Besides inspection work, the units focus on promoting communication through various appropriate forms; coordinating with press and media agencies to disseminate legal regulations on food safety; guiding food production and business establishments to properly implement conditions ensuring food safety and personal hygiene in preventing food contamination and foodborne diseases. At the same time, they encourage consumers to choose and use safe food, and say no to fake and substandard food.
For the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of provinces and cities, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests the organization and implementation of a food safety plan for the Lunar New Year (Tet) and Spring Festival 2026, in accordance with local conditions, ensuring timely progress and meeting the set requirements. Local authorities should mobilize media agencies and all resources to participate in communicating information about food safety to producers, businesses, and consumers during Tet and the festival season; promptly publicize cases of violations of food safety regulations, and at the same time commend organizations, individuals, and establishments producing and selling safe food for the community.
