AI chip crisis: Smartphones and laptops are about to see a reduction in RAM.

According to Techspot , experts warn that next year's high-end smartphone launches may have less RAM than current models. Users may even have to pay more for devices with lower memory capacity, primarily due to the global memory chip crisis driven by the booming demand for AI.

Experts predict that smartphone production with 12GB of RAM will decrease sharply, while lower-end models with 4GB of RAM will increase to compensate. High-end versions with 16GB of RAM will become scarce and will certainly see price increases.

Not only phones, laptops are also affected. Mainstream models find it difficult to go below 8GB of RAM due to operating system limitations, but the mid-range segment is gradually accepting 8GB as the standard. In the high-end segment, the trend is shifting towards 16GB of RAM instead of 32GB or 64GB.

Memory prices have skyrocketed. For example, a 48GB DDR5 memory module that cost under $150 at the end of 2023 now costs around $450.

Experts recommend that consumers postpone purchasing new smartphones, laptops, or RAM until supply stabilizes and prices cool down.

The Adult Mode is expected to allow users to customize the sensitivity level of content, including complex or highly private topics. However, OpenAI will still maintain strict safety and ethical boundaries, ensuring that it does not cross the line regarding harmful content or policy violations.

Additionally, Adult Mode can integrate features such as customizable response tones, expanded contextual conversation capabilities for longer periods, and improved accuracy on sensitive topics. This is part of OpenAI's strategy to personalize AI to meet users' real-world needs while maintaining safety standards.

The US government is hunting for young technology talent.

The Trump administration has just announced the United States Tech Force program, a two-year initiative aimed at recruiting approximately 1,000 technology professionals to work in federal agencies. Expected salaries range from $130,000 to $195,000 per year.

This program targets early-career professionals, giving them opportunities to work in the public sector while also paving the way for entry into the private sector after graduation. The government is partnering with at least 28 major technology companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Meta, Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, Palantir, Oracle, Uber, and xAI.

Candidates will go through a process including application submission, technical evaluation, interviews with agency leaders, and background checks. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will conduct the initial screening before forwarding applications to agencies for final decision.

In addition to practical work experience, the program includes a series of events with CEOs of various companies, as well as job fairs in both the public and private sectors. Private partners will provide training resources, mentorship, and a commitment to considering hiring candidates after they complete the program.
