Apple has just removed several RAM options from the Mac Studio and Mac mini due to a global memory shortage. The Mac mini models with 32GB and 64GB of RAM have disappeared from the online store, while the Mac Studio M3 Ultra is now only available with 96GB of RAM. This makes it difficult for users to access the previously popular high-end configurations.

Apple isn't just adjusting RAM; they're also changing storage capacity. Last week, the 256GB SSD version of the Mac mini was discontinued, raising the starting storage to 512GB and the price from $599 to $799. The Mac Studio and Mac mini models now have delivery times of 9 to 10 weeks, indicating severely tight supply.

CEO Tim Cook admitted that Apple had underestimated customer demand, especially from those wanting to run AI tools on-premises. He also warned that memory costs would rise sharply in the near future, meaning balancing supply and demand could take several months. This is clear evidence of the impact of the AI wave on the hardware market.

Instead, Xbox is focusing on improving the player experience, reducing barriers for both gamers and developers. New personnel from the CoreAI team have also been added to support infrastructure and design, indicating that AI will still be present but primarily internally rather than in the public product.
