A bold statement by the Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Mr. Michael Kratsios, is stirring up controversy on social networks: "America has entered a new Golden Age" , with technologies capable of "controlling time and space" and "destroying distance" .

This statement was made by Mr. Kratsios on April 14 (US time) at the Endless Frontiers Retreat scientific conference in Texas, which brings together policymakers and technology experts to promote America's technological superiority on the global playing field.
"Our technologies enable the manipulation of time and space, making things evolve and improving productivity," he stressed in his speech.
Not stopping there, he affirmed that American technology is moving towards the ability to "overcome sclerosis", creating innovations capable of taking America further "into the infinite boundary".
Immediately, these words spread strongly on social networks, attracting a series of questions from the community: "What do you mean when you talk about infinite energy?", "Is this a metaphor or a reference to a real breakthrough?" , comments clearly showing the public's disbelief.

While the White House has not yet given any official explanation, observers say Mr. Kratsios's expression is likely symbolic, rather than referring to the US successfully creating a time travel machine.
More likely, “bending time and space” is a metaphor for the new wave of technology: artificial intelligence, aerospace, and automated productivity systems are reshaping the speed and way the economy operates.
Notably, Mr. Kratsios described the Trump administration’s technology agenda as “focused on promoting research and development,” and saw it as a lever for American companies to maintain their global leadership. Such statements contribute to the realization of the message that Washington is trying to convey in the new term: America is entering a “great era of innovation.”
Mr. Trump's return to the White House from January 2025 comes with the appearance of many faces from the technology industry in the cabinet, factors expected to contribute to shaping technology policy in the next 4 years.
As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2026, Kratsios’s speech, whether metaphorical or revealing of a long-term strategy, made clear America’s determination not to be left behind in the global technology race. And if “time and space” can indeed be redefined, the first place to send the signal may be Washington.
