In recent days, although the Lunar New Year is approaching, the staff at the station still maintains 24/7 duty, taking advantage of the good water level of the Red River to operate the water intake units to the maximum.

Director of Dan Hoai Irrigation Enterprise Nguyen Hai Truong said that during this Tet holiday, the unit will assign staff and workers to maintain on-duty at Ba Giang field pumping station and Dan Hoai pumping station; monitor the water level of the Red River to flexibly operate the generators to make the most of water resources.

Along with the Ba Giang field pumping station, it was noted that on January 27 (ie the 28th of the Lunar New Year At Ty), 116 pumping stations with hundreds of pumping units continued to be operated at maximum capacity by 4 irrigation enterprises in Hanoi to get water for the 2025 Spring crop.

According to Chairman of Hanoi Irrigation Development Investment Company Limited Tran Thanh Toan, the unit is maintaining a high level of focus on drought prevention. Since the first water draw from hydroelectric reservoirs, the pumping station system has been continuously operated under conditions where water sources permit.

“Staff and workers at the stations are working in shifts to continuously operate the irrigation system to provide water for spring crop production. This work will be maintained continuously before, during and after the Lunar New Year…” - Mr. Tran Thanh Toan added.

Make the most of water resources

According to the assessment of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the work of taking water for the 2025 Spring crop in the city recently complied with the requirements of the Department of Irrigation ( Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ) and ensured the overall progress of the entire Northern Midlands and Delta region. However, there are still some issues that need attention in the work of taking water.

The most prominent issue is water quality, especially for agricultural production areas that take water directly from the Nhue River and Cau Bay River under the management of the Nhue River Irrigation Development Investment Company Limited and the Hanoi Irrigation Development Investment Company Limited.

Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested the two above-mentioned enterprises to have alternative water source plans by increasing water intake from the Red River and Day River to replace water from the Nhue River; coordinate the operation of inter-regional and inter-provincial irrigation works; and at the same time, notify localities in the system to have appropriate production plans.

For Song Tich Irrigation Company Limited, it is necessary to proactively implement solutions to ensure water resources for areas in the basin of Trung Ha pumping station, Phu Sa pumping station and irrigation areas served by a number of small pumping stations taking water from Tich River.

To ensure sufficient water supply for the 2025 Spring crop production in the city, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Quyen requested irrigation companies and local authorities to continue operating the works to bring water to the fields before the second phase when water resources allow; taking advantage of the returning water source and tides to take the initiative.

In addition, actively organize and guide people to early prepare the land to retain water in the fields, strengthen the reinforcement of the banks and plot banks, and ensure against water loss for areas that have been supplied with enough water, especially rice areas planted after the Lunar New Year.

 

With the proactiveness and positivity of Hanoi irrigation enterprises, up to now, the whole city has about 43,000 hectares of agricultural cultivation with sufficient water, reaching more than 52% of the total production area for the 2025 Spring crop.
