Coach Philippe Troussier made several changes to the starting lineup of the Vietnamese national team compared to the win against Hong Kong (China). The French coach fielded Cong Phuong in the starting XI, replacing Pham Tuan Hai.

The Vietnamese national team could field a 3-4-3 formation with Cong Phuong playing as a left winger, Quang Hai as a right winger, and Nguyen Van Tung continuing to be trusted in the center forward position.

In goal, the French coach still places his full trust in Dang Van Lam. Vietnam U23 goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet was not registered to play.

In the defense, Phan Tuan Tai, after his performance in the second half of the match against Hong Kong (China), was given the opportunity to start in place of Nguyen Thanh Binh. Vu Van Thanh replaced Ho Tan Tai, who was not registered to play.

In midfield, Vietnam U23 player Nguyen Thai Son made his debut for the Vietnam national team. Nguyen Hoang Duc suffered an injury in the win against Hong Kong (China) and missed this match.

Besides Tan Tai, Van Viet, and Hoang Duc, Coach Troussier also did not use Lam Ti Phong, Nguyen Dinh Trieu, Chau Ngoc Quang, and Bui Tien Dung.
