Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that no matter how much we do, it will never be enough compared to the sacrifices of the heroic martyrs. Therefore, we must be determined to "restore the names" of the martyrs, and continue doing so until it is no longer possible.
According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, DNA identification is not just about obtaining normal biological information, but also a key to unlocking and restoring historical memories for the families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. It is an important tool connecting the past, present, and future.
Given the large number of unidentified martyrs, the Prime Minister requested that ministries and agencies, within their functions, duties, and powers, urgently address obstacles and proactively resolve issues to accelerate the implementation of the plan to collect DNA samples from the families of martyrs in the coming period.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the work of showing gratitude is a command from the heart and a moral obligation of the entire society. The application of DNA and gene banks for fallen soldiers is a major scientific advancement, a noble duty, and a sincere expression of the entire political system's affection for those who sacrificed for independence, freedom, prosperity, and happiness. Therefore, it must be done with the highest sense of responsibility.
According to a report from the Ministry of Public Security, as of July 20th, the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order Police had completed the analysis of 11,138 DNA samples from relatives of martyrs, and simultaneously updated the national identity database with more than 10,000 DNA data entries of martyrs' relatives.
