
The volunteer team to search for and collect martyrs' remains in Da Nang was established nearly 20 years ago, starting with 24 members who were veterans and volunteers. Currently, the team is under the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, with Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh (born 1970, Lien Chieu Ward) as the team leader.
Over the years, the team has not only carried out tasks domestically but also helped friendly units verify martyrs in Laos and Cambodia; collected 26 martyrs from Attapeu province (Laos) and verified 40 martyrs of Group 559 Truong Son Corps. In addition, thousands of martyrs have been verified, more than 200 martyrs have been brought to local cemeteries for burial, and 9 martyrs are being appraised.
At the end of 2024, the team sent people to join the Nghe An Volunteer Collection Team, Military Region 4, to collect and repatriate the remains of 87 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Xieng Khouang (Laos) to the old Nghi Loc District Cemetery, Nghe An Province.
On November 25, 2024, the team verified the martyrs in Cambodia, their hometown in Que Long, Que Son, former Quang Nam. At the end of December 2024, they verified, searched, exhumed, and repatriated martyr Nguyen Van Soai, unit C2d471 of the special forces of the 44th Quang Da Front, for burial at the Quynh My Commune Cemetery, Quynh Phu District, former Thai Binh Province.
On January 12, 2025, the team verified martyr Tran Thanh Nha, who died in Phuc Trach commune, Bo Trach district, former Quang Binh province. In April 2025, they verified 5 martyrs at the house of Ms. Luu Thi Hong Van (Nam Ha village, Dien Trung commune, Dien Ban town, former Quang Nam province). At the end of May 2025, they verified 17 martyrs from Phu Loc (Hue), who died in Suoi Luong, Da Nang.
At the closing ceremony, delegates watched the documentary "Journey to find the sleepless souls", introducing the activities of the Volunteer Team searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in Da Nang over the past time.
On this occasion, 3 volunteers were given new membership cards, 10 outstanding team members received certificates of merit from the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Da Nang city. Philanthropists and sponsors gave many gifts to team members in difficult circumstances.
