Amidst the celebratory atmosphere of the Lunar New Year 2025 and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), on the morning of January 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board held the inauguration ceremony for the remaining section of the Left Bank of the Saigon River, from Cau Ngang Canal to Thu Thiem Urban Area (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City).

On the morning of January 20th, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board held a ceremony to inaugurate the remaining section of the Saigon River Left Bank project, from Cau Ngang Canal to Thu Thiem urban area (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City).

The project for the left bank of the Saigon River (remaining section) from Cau Ngang canal to Thu Thiem urban area has been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for its construction design and cost estimate, with main items including: construction of 1,776 m of reinforced concrete embankment (including sidewalks, trees and lighting system), along with 4 tidal barrier gates combined with pumping stations at Binh Thai canal, Ong Chua canal, Thao Dien canal and Ong Hoa canal.

Construction began in December 2017 and was completed in November 2023 with a total investment of 992.756 billion VND, with the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board as the investor.

Representatives of the investor and Thu Duc City presented gifts to residents in the project.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board, expressed his deep gratitude for the support, coordination, and attention from the City Party Committee, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Land Compensation and Resettlement Board of Thu Duc City; along with the cooperation of the Party Committees, People's Committees, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of An Khanh, An Phu, Thao Dien, and Truong Tho wards, the Community Monitoring Board, and especially the sharing and consensus from the people in the area. Thanks to their cooperation, the project was completed with guaranteed quality and put into use according to the design.

The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board also stated that the project was inspected and accepted by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in November 2023. Currently, the investor and the Department are proposing to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to decentralize management to the Thu Duc City People's Committee according to regulations, in order to bring the project into official operation soon and achieve the highest efficiency from the investment capital.

Ms. Chu Thi Trong (residing in Thu Duc City) expressed her joy that the project has been completed.

On behalf of the residents in the project area, Ms. Chu Thi Trong (a resident of Thu Duc City) expressed her joy that the project, now completed, will be effective in preventing flooding caused by high tides and heavy rains, improving drainage for the area, and contributing to beautifying the urban landscape along the left bank of the Saigon River.

At the same time, Ms. Trong expressed her gratitude to the leaders at all levels and relevant departments for their attention to upgrading infrastructure, contributing to improving the lives of the people.

The project not only supports drainage to reduce flooding during heavy rains but also contributes to urban beautification and environmental protection. This creates a foundation for socio-economic development in Thu Duc City in particular and Ho Chi Minh City in general, improving the quality of life, both materially and spiritually, for residents in the area.
