The launching ceremony of the Program to Announce Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam in 2025 (CSI 2025) chaired by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) was officially launched on June 5 in Hanoi . This is the 10th consecutive year the program has been implemented according to the Government's policy.
CSI 2025 marks an important milestone as it is also the 15th anniversary of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD). Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh - Vice President of VCCI, President of VBCSD, Deputy Head of the Program Steering Committee emphasized that the 10-year journey of CSI is also 2/3 of the journey of VBCSD, demonstrating the determination and strong vitality in promoting sustainable corporate governance in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh emphasized that strengthening corporate governance capacity is the G factor in ESG, which is the foundation for businesses to effectively implement sustainable development strategies. Accordingly, businesses can improve their competitiveness, resilience and adaptability in the long term.
In particular, according to Resolution 68 of the Central Committee on private economic development, the content of honoring and praising enterprises with social responsibility, efficiency and sustainability has been clearly affirmed. Therefore, the CSI program has become more urgent and meaningful in the current context.
A highlight of CSI 2025 is the continued use of the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) as the basis for assessment, but this index has many important innovations in terms of structure, content and implementation methods.
Accordingly, the CSI 2025 Index is designed to include 7 main parts, including: Enterprise information; Organizational structure and personnel; Analysis of key issues; 3-year results index; Governance; Environment; Labor - society. There are a total of 145 indexes (down from 153 indexes in 2024), including 85 basic indexes and 58 advanced indexes.
In addition, the index also has a shortened version specifically for small and micro enterprises, consisting of only 87 indicators in 6 parts, mainly compliance indicators (accounting for 84%). According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Huy, Director of the Office of Enterprises for Sustainable Development (SD4B-VCCI): This will help encourage small enterprises to gradually change their business thinking to sustainable development, first of all from compliance to innovation.
Furthermore, CSI 2025 also integrates technological elements, especially the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the implementation process, helping businesses easily access and declare information. Therefore, all documents will be received via an online platform and will not charge any fees from businesses.
A notable improvement is the addition of the requirement of "key issue analysis" in the index set for medium and large enterprises. Accordingly, enterprises are required to identify key issues related to sustainable development, from the needs of stakeholders to strategic content, in order to adjust the strategy to suit reality.
This year’s program will select 100 outstanding sustainable enterprises, including the Top 10 outstanding enterprises in the fields of production, trade and services. At the same time, there will be additional thematic award categories to encourage pioneering enterprises in each sustainable development focus.
Up to now, after 9 seasons, the program has attracted more than 4,000 enterprises to participate directly and more than 10,000 enterprises to use CSI as a reference tool in planning production and business strategies...
