The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has just issued a plan to implement cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima (Japan) for the period 2024-2029. This is an important step in the cooperative relationship between the two localities and concretizes the contents of the previous cooperation agreement, opening up new prospects for common development.

Focus on key areas

The plan for cooperation between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima focuses on several important areas. Accordingly, in the field of investment and trade, the province will promote attracting Japanese investment in general and Hiroshima province in particular in the following areas: high-tech industry, processing industry, clean energy, information technology, elderly healthcare, high-tech medical services (stem cells), large commercial centers, logistics services, port logistics services, and supporting industries. At the same time, the province will effectively provide necessary investment information to agencies, organizations, and investors in Hiroshima province. During the period 2024-2029, the province will proactively organize the Khanh Hoa - Japan Investment Promotion Conference in Hiroshima in 2026 and 2028; and promote trade, import, and export activities between Khanh Hoa province and Japan in general and Hiroshima province in particular…

In the tourism sector, the province will study the possibility of opening a direct flight route connecting Cam Ranh International Airport to Hiroshima Prefecture and vice versa; coordinate the organization of famtrip, presstrip, and mediatrip programs for Hiroshima Prefecture to explore tourism services and products in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa; invite the Hiroshima delegation to participate in the Nha Trang International Sea Tourism Festival in 2026 and 2028; and organize tourism promotion programs in Hiroshima Prefecture… Particularly, in the field of human resources, education , and training, the province will research and implement a plan to organize vocational training and send Khanh Hoa workers to work in Hiroshima Prefecture, including supplying labor for nursing facilities. Cooperation in this field is considered one of the highlights of the plan. Connecting training institutions between the two provinces will help improve the quality of human resources, meeting the development needs of both localities.

Hiroshima Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki stated: "The relationship between Hiroshima and Khanh Hoa is getting better and better. The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with Hiroshima Prefecture will be the basis for promoting the relationship between the two sides to develop even more strongly. Based on this cooperation agreement, the two sides will exchange and discuss bilateral cooperation contents to promote the cooperative relationship to a new level. Through the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation, it is hoped that more Japanese people in general and Hiroshima people in particular will know about Khanh Hoa Province, and Khanh Hoa people will also know about Hiroshima Province."

When the plan to implement cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima is put into effect, it will certainly bring enormous economic benefits, contributing to promoting sustainable development. Specifically, through cooperation, many job opportunities will be created from Japanese investment projects; Khanh Hoa workers will have the opportunity to be exposed to world-leading production and technology. In addition, cooperation in the fields of health and education will help improve the quality of life for the people. The cooperation between the two localities will also contribute to promoting tourism development; promoting Khanh Hoa tourism in Japan, attracting more tourists to Nha Trang.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the implementation of cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima will open up many new opportunities for cooperation in economics, tourism, and human resource development. Cultural exchange activities are becoming increasingly substantive and effective, bringing practical benefits to both sides and contributing to the further development and prosperity of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan. Khanh Hoa has a young, abundant, and highly skilled workforce. The province is focusing on investing in human resource development in tourism and elderly care. Therefore, it is hoped that Hiroshima province will create favorable conditions to support trainees to work in Hiroshima.

Based on the assigned tasks, the Provincial People's Committee requests that departments, agencies, localities, and relevant units develop detailed plans to implement or integrate related content into cooperation activities between Khanh Hoa and Hiroshima. The Provincial People's Committee assigns the Department of Foreign Affairs as the focal agency to monitor and urge relevant agencies and units to implement the plan, and to report annually to the Provincial People's Committee on the situation and results of implementation.

To date, Khanh Hoa province has attracted 607 investment projects with non-budgetary capital, totaling over 480 trillion VND in registered investment capital. Of these, the Van Phong Economic Zone has attracted 150 investment projects, and the Suoi Dau Industrial Park has attracted 57 investment projects. Regarding FDI projects, the province has attracted 111 projects with a total registered investment capital of over 3.8 billion USD, including 6 projects from Japan with a total registered investment capital of over 2.65 billion USD, accounting for nearly 70% of the total FDI. Japan is the largest foreign investor in Khanh Hoa.
