On June 2nd, at the Ninh Kieu Ward Political Training Center, the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee, Truong Canh Tuyen, along with city People's Council delegates from Electoral Unit No. 2, met with voters in Ninh Kieu, Cai Khe, and Tan An wards ahead of the mid-year 2026 session of the City People's Council.

At the meeting, Mr. Thieu Quang Than, Deputy Head of the Urban Affairs Committee of the City People's Council, representing the City People's Council delegation from Constituency No. 2, reported to the voters on the results of the City People's Council's activities in the first five months of the year; the socio- economic situation and national security and defense in the first months of the year; and the planned agenda for the mid-year session of the City People's Council.
Accordingly, the City People's Council successfully coordinated the organization of the election of National Assembly deputies for the 16th term and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. As a result, city voters elected 18 National Assembly deputies, 84 City People's Council representatives, and 2,207 commune-level People's Council representatives.
In addition, the City People's Council also conducted thematic supervision on digital transformation; surveyed the operation of health stations, the application of electronic health records in people's healthcare; and the progress of implementing some key projects… The Standing Committee of the City People's Council successfully organized the "Listening and Exchanging" program, focusing on some policies supporting the implementation of the National Target Program for building new rural areas in the 2021-2025 period in the city…

In the first five months of the year, the City People's Council received 81 letters and opinions from citizens; it processed and provided guidance on 8 letters, forwarded 42 letters to competent authorities, notified one letter for review, and filed 31 letters as per regulations.
At the conference, with a spirit of frankness and responsibility, voters from the wards submitted several recommendations to the city's People's Council representatives regarding: food safety and hygiene in preschools and primary schools; issues related to garbage collection, environmental sanitation, and the encroachment of canals and waterways by construction projects; the registration of planting area codes; and difficulties in issuing land use right certificates…

Voter Dang Truong Son (Tan An ward) suggested that there should be policies to invest in infrastructure and develop the economy for the three key wards of the city; and to develop a plan to organize garbage collection in rural areas to reduce the dumping of garbage into canals and ditches, which causes unsightly conditions and environmental pollution...

At the conference, many voters also expressed their agreement and enthusiasm with the Politburo's issuance of Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW on some breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health; which includes the goal of providing free periodic health check-ups or screenings for people at least once a year. They hoped the city would soon implement this so that people could benefit from this very practical and meaningful policy from the central government.
Regarding this matter, the leaders of the Can Tho City Department of Health stated that the City People's Committee has already developed a plan and the Department of Health is currently preparing the necessary steps to organize and implement a nationwide health check-up program.

In 2026, the City Health Department organized medical examinations for several priority groups, such as: poor households, families receiving social welfare benefits, vulnerable groups, those receiving social assistance, and those with chronic diseases. In addition, the Health Department is advising the city to allow screening for women, focusing on breast and uterine cancer, among other conditions.
In response to feedback from voters, leaders of the Department of Health, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Ninh Kieu and Tan An wards responded to issues within their jurisdiction; at the same time, they recorded and compiled the feedback to forward to relevant agencies for resolution according to regulations.

Regarding feedback on difficulties in issuing land use right certificates, the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Ngo Thai Chan, acknowledged the issue and will address it. Furthermore, the department's leadership requested that citizens, when applying for a second land use right certificate (the first being issued by the commune-level People's Committee), ask officials for guidance and complete documentation to facilitate the process and avoid multiple trips. "If dissatisfied, voters can provide feedback to the Department's leadership and the Land Registration Office via the publicly available phone number on the Department of Agriculture and Environment's information portal," Mr. Ngo Thai Chan emphasized.

On behalf of the city's People's Council delegates, Chairman of the City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen also informed voters about the city's economic and social development in the first months of the year. He emphasized that while growth has been recorded, the results are still not commensurate with the city's potential and advantages. In the coming period, the city will focus resources on key and urgent areas, contributing to promoting economic growth, ensuring social security, and improving the quality of life for its people. The Chairman of the City People's Committee also hoped that voters would continue to cooperate and share with the city government and local authorities the difficulties and obstacles encountered after a year of operating the two-tiered local government system.

Emphasizing that the opinions and suggestions at the conference were very relevant, practical, and reflected a dedication to the city's development, City Chairman Truong Canh Tuyen urged voters to continue monitoring and contributing alongside the government to build a city that develops more sustainably.
