Good news

These days, Cua Viet becomes more vibrant and bustling with boats sailing out to sea and returning to the mainland with the joy of catching lots of seafood.

After the merger, this place has stronger potential in exploiting, catching and processing seafood. In particular, the most prominent is the powerful fishing fleet with more than 300 offshore fishing boats, 198 nearshore fishing boats, and 65 river fishing boats.

Fishermen in Cua Viet coastal area always pay attention to investing in upgrading and building new boats, purchasing fishing gear and equipment to ensure quality and efficiency; establishing offshore fishing fleets, self-managing teams for boats and docks, linking production teams at sea, supporting each other in exploiting and catching seafood as well as carrying out rescue work and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

The total aquaculture area in the whole commune is currently 143.88 hectares; many integrated agricultural models with high economic efficiency have been formed, such as freshwater fish-rice model, cage fish farming on the river, shrimp-crab-fish farming combined according to the seasonal framework. The total average aquatic product output reaches 11,621 tons/year.

Mr. Tran Hong Linh, in Xuan Ngoc quarter, said: “My family has focused on investing in upgrading boats and modern fishing equipment and confidently going offshore to large fishing grounds. Currently, my family owns 2 offshore fishing boats with a capacity of 715 CV and 430 CV; the average annual revenue reaches over 10 billion VND, creating jobs for 17 local workers. I and many local boat owners and fishermen are excited to have successful fishing trips, and our lives are increasingly improving.”

Chairman of Cua Viet Commune People's Committee Le Van Thong said that in order to continue to effectively develop the marine economy, gradually enhance its value and affirm its brand, the locality will continue to thoroughly grasp, propagate and seriously implement Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee and Action Program No. 144-CTHĐ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on the strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; guiding documents on fisheries development policies, and on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
